Lipids
They are classified into three categories which are :
1) Simple lipids ( it is also classified into two types which are true lipids and waxses)
2) conjugated lipids ( they are combination of lipids and some other molecules)
3) derived lipids ( they are derived from some basic lipids and other substances).

True lipids : Such lipids contain fatty acid and glycerol .
fatty acid have long chain of hydrocarbons and glycerol is a alcohal which contain .
CH2-OH
CH-OH
CH2-OH
On which fatty acid combines with to form monoglyceride , diglyceride and triglyceride.
Fatty acid can be saturated and unsaturated.

Saturated fats have saturated fatty acid they are solid at room temperature while unsaturated fats have unsaturated fatty acid which are liquid at room temperature such as plant oil and have double or triple bond and undergo hydrogenation to convert into saturated fatty acid.

Waxses: They have esters of fatty acid and alcohol other than glycerol.
example are :
ear wax (cerumen) , sebum , plant wax , wool wax.
wax act as a barrier.

conjugated lipids : it is mixture of lipids and some other substances.
example: glycolipids ,lipoproteins, sphingolipids.

Derived lipids: These lipids are divided into two types which are sterols and terpene.

Sterols are derived from phenanthrine which contain 3 rings of 6 carbon and 1 ring of 5 carbon compound and terpene derived from isoprene which is a 5 carbon compound .

Sterols example:
phytosterol
zoosterol( cholestrol)
ergosterol
bile acids
adrenal corticoids
Vitamin D
s*x hormones

Terpene example;
carotenoid
natural rubber
vitamin A
impart odor on some substance such as camphor, menthol etc.
