Urs Mubarak of Hazrat Baba Fariduddin Masood Ganj Shakar (R.A.)
Hazrat Baba Fariduddin Masood Ganj Shakar (R.A.) was one of the greatest saints of the Chishti Sufi Order and a shining spiritual personality of the Subcontinent. He was born in a noble and religious family. His father, Hazrat Jamaluddin Suleman (R.A.), was a respected scholar and pious personality, while his mother, Bibi Qarsum Khatun, was known for her righteousness and spiritual upbringing of Baba Farid (R.A.). Traditionally, his family lineage is traced to Hazrat Umar Farooq (R.A.), and due to this noble ancestry he is also remembered as Farooqi. He received spiritual guidance and Khilafat in the Chishti Sufi chain from Hazrat Qutbuddin Bakhtiar Kaki (R.A.), who was the disciple of Hazrat Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti Ajmeri (R.A.).
His famous spiritual successors included Hazrat Alauddin Sabir Kalyari (R.A.), Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya (R.A.), Hazrat Jamaluddin Hansvi (R.A.), and Hazrat Badruddin Ishaq (R.A.), who further spread the Chishti message of love, peace, and service.
As a great saint in the Chishti spiritual chain, Baba Farid (R.A.) spread the message of obedience to Allah (SWT), deep love and respect for Rasool Allah (ď·ş), purification of the heart, and service to humanity. His teachings were based on simplicity, tolerance, compassion, and kindness towards all, regardless of faith, caste, or status.
His message of love and humanity was so powerful that it inspired generations, including Baba Guru Nanak, who held great respect for his spiritual wisdom and teachings.
On the blessed occasion of his Urs Mubarak at Pakpattan Sharif, we remember his life and message, and pray that Allah Almighty enables us to follow the path of faith, humility, love, and service to mankind.
Today, his blessed shrine at Pakpattan Sharif remains a great centre of spirituality, devotion, peace, reflection, and love for humanity, where people from all walks of life come to seek inspiration from his timeless message.
