KOBO ABE
Kobo Abe was born in 1924 in Tokyo and died there in 1993. He was a Japanese writer who worked in fiction, drama, and nonfiction.

He is considered one of the most important writers in modern Japanese literature. Kobo Abe became famous around the world for his novels that deal with themes of loneliness, alienation, and the loss of personal identity, especially in Japanese society after World War II.

Instead of following traditional Japanese literary styles, Abe was strongly influenced by Western avant-garde writers. His works were widely translated into English and other languages and were well received internationally.

His writing often combines realistic details with strange, dream-like, and sometimes disturbing situations. Because of this, his stories are rich in symbolism and raise deep philosophical questions. In addition to writing novels and plays, Kobo Abe was also a theatre director and a photographer.

Major works include 'The Woman in the Dunes', 'The Face of Another', 'The Ruined Map', and 'The Ark Sakura'.
