I suggest humbly that mechanical debate/speech competition should not be arranged at school level, as speech is a method, not the objective to achieve. But the way it (speech competition) is being handled in our educational institutions has become the foremost purpose to achieve. The objectives fade away behind the method. Resultantly such people can only be good actors on the stage. They are never inspirational: they can't contribute anything to the society that may be called good/productive/fruitful. Speech for the sake of speech is deadly poison for any productive/creative/reformative process.
