School should not become a race to make children academically advanced.
Yes, academics and activities have their place. But in the early years, children need something even more important—the opportunity to play, explore, express and develop essential life skills.
Free play teaches children to communicate, wait for their turn, solve problems, handle emotions, build creativity and interact with others.
These skills may not always appear on a worksheet, but they play a major role in shaping a child’s confidence and personality.
The goal of school should not simply be to make children good at writing, reading or memorising.
The bigger goal is to help them become confident, curious, independent and capable human beings.
In early childhood education, we need to ask ourselves:
Are we preparing children only for academics—or preparing them life.
