Bhagwan Das received his Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Engineering in 2008 from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Jamshoro. From July 2008 to July 2009, he served as a Lab Lecturer at MUET. Later, he worked as a Telecom Engineer at Lune Sys Pvt. Ltd., Islamabad from July 2009 to January 2011.

In January 2011, he joined Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science, and Technology (QUEST) as a Lecturer in the Department of Electronics, where he continues to serve as a regular faculty member. He obtained his Master’s in Communication Engineering in 2013 and has over six years of teaching experience in Pakistan’s public sector universities.

Bhagwan Das is a Professional Member of IEEE, a Registered Engineer with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), and also a member of the Pakistan Engineering Congress.

Currently, he is pursuing his PhD in Electrical Engineering at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Faiz Liew bin Abdullah. His research interests include optical communication, signal processing, and FPGA-based energy-efficient design. He has successfully published numerous research articles in both national and international journals.

Meet Sarmad Mallah from 07 Batch Computer Systems Engineering – A Story of Hard Work and Success

Sarmad Mallah’s journey from a small town in Sindh to becoming an Enterprise Application Manager at a leading bank in Washington, D.C., is a story of hard work, perseverance, and a deep passion for technology. Sarmad grew up in Kotri, Sindh, where he started his schooling. He attended Model School Hyderabad and then Public School Hyderabad, where he lived in a hostel during his studies until he completed his matriculation.

After finishing college, Sarmad earned a place at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), where he completed his degree in Computer Systems Engineering. Though his journey wasn’t always easy, it was shaped by his determination to succeed. Sarmad was born in Manjhand, Jamshoro, but it was his time in Kotri that influenced his work ethic and perseverance, driving him to keep moving forward.

With over 10+ years of experience in the IT field, Sarmad has become an expert in system engineering, cloud technologies, web security, and infrastructure management. His career took off when he joined Server4Sale, where he worked with a variety of international clients, including major banking institutions. At Server4Sale, Sarmad developed his skills in server management and web security, helping clients protect their online systems and sensitive data.

His expertise in cybersecurity and infrastructure management became the foundation for his career. Sarmad didn’t just offer technical support, he became a key part of his clients’ security strategy, ensuring their systems ran smoothly and securely.

Throughout his career, Sarmad has worked with well-known companies like Dubai Airports, DU Telecom, and Al-Futtaim Group. From cloud migrations to disaster recovery, he has been part of important IT projects, helping businesses adapt to the fast-changing world of technology.

Today, Sarmad continues to grow, lead, and inspire. Whether he’s managing enterprise applications or exploring new technologies, his story is a reminder to young people that with dedication, hard work, and persistence, anything is possible.

HUMANS of MUET – Mr. Saqlain Raza Laghari (Civil Engineering, Batch 14)

Meet Mr. Saqlain Raza Laghari, an inspiring alumnus of Mehran University’s Civil Engineering Department, Batch of 2014. A symbol of resilience and dedication, Mr. Laghari cracked the prestigious CSS exam not once, but twice (first in 2019) and (again in 2024), a rare achievement that speaks volumes about his determination.

He completed his specialized training at the IRS Academy in 2022 and is currently serving in the esteemed Inland Revenue Service (IRS). His professional journey has taken him through key postings at the Regional Tax Offices in Bahawalpur and Hyderabad, where he contributed meaningfully to tax administration and public service.

Now stationed at the Medium Taxpayer Office in Karachi, Mr. Laghari continues to uphold the values of integrity and commitment. His journey from MUET classrooms to Pakistan’s civil service highlights the power of hard work and the spirit of service.

Meet Engr. Aamir Shaikh, a distinguished alumnus of the 13 batch, who completed his Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from MUET, graduating with 2nd position in his class. From the beginning, Aamir exhibited a strong work ethic and a passion for innovation.

He began his professional career at Colgate-Palmolive, gaining valuable industry exposure. Seeking further growth, he joined Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), where he worked for five years as an Operations and Maintenance Engineer. During this time, his thirst for knowledge led him back to MUET, where he earned a Master’s degree in Mechatronic Engineering (17 batch) while managing his full-time role.

His journey then took him to SUPARCO, Pakistan’s national space agency, where he served as a Maintenance Engineer, contributing to high-tech engineering operations. Today, he is giving back to the institution that laid his foundation, serving as a Lecturer in the Mechatronics Engineering Department at MUET Jamshoro.

Engr. Aamir’s journey is a story of resilience, ambition, and lifelong learning. From a top-performing student to an industry professional and now an academic, he continues to inspire future engineers with his dedication and passion.

Waseem Ahmed Shaikh

Currently: Ph.D. Researcher at University of Manitoba, Canada

Waseem Ahmed Shaikh is a distinguished alumnus of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), where he completed both his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering and M.E. in Manufacturing Engineering. His academic journey at MUET laid the foundation for a career marked by innovation, teaching, and impactful research. Waseem earned the distinction of being the district topper when he was admitted to MUET for his B.E., a recognition that marked the start of his academic excellence.

He began his academic career as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at MUET, supporting undergraduate instruction and academic activities, and later continued this path by joining Indus University, Karachi, as a Lecturer—demonstrating a consistent dedication to engineering education and student development.

Beyond academics, Waseem was actively involved in student leadership. He was the founding organizer of MUET’s first-ever Model United Nations and later served as Director Finance for its second iteration. His contributions to student events were further acknowledged when he received the Best Brand Ambassador award at the Quest Model United Nations Conference (2016) for his outstanding representation and engagement.

Professionally, Waseem worked as a Qualification Engineer at HALEON (formerly GSK), where he was responsible for equipment validation, production line qualification, and implementing global EHS protocols. His engineering career bridges industry and research, combining practical knowledge with forward-thinking innovation.

Currently, Waseem is pursuing a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Manitoba, Canada. Alongside his doctoral research, he teaches undergraduate courses and develops Augmented Reality-based training systems using Unity and C # to enhance technical education in metrology.

Waseem’s journey from MUET to Manitoba exemplifies the transformative impact of strong academic foundations, global perspective, and an enduring passion for engineering. He continues to carry the MUET spirit forward, representing the university with pride on every stage.

Meet Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Zardari, a distinguished academic and esteemed alumnus of the 07CS batch of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET). Building upon a solid foundation at MUET, Dr. Zardari advanced his academic journey by earning a Ph.D. in Computer Science from China, gaining valuable international exposure and deepening his expertise in the field of technology and research.

Currently, Dr. Zardari serves as the Director of the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) and Chairperson of the Department of Information & Communication Technologies at Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University, Sukkur. In these pivotal roles, he exemplifies academic leadership and administrative excellence, with a focus on fostering innovation, quality assurance, and academic development.

Ansarah Aslam Durrani (14 Electrical Batch) – A passionate electrical engineer with a drive to leave her mark across every platform.

A proud graduate of Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), Ansarah has faced her share of doubts and discouraging remarks. But far from holding her back, her alma mater gave her an identity she proudly carries today. MUET didn’t just shape her career, it shaped her confidence.

During her academic journey, she served as the Secretary General of the 4th Edition of MUET Model United Nations in 2018 and actively participated in various university societies, showcasing her leadership and commitment beyond the classroom.

Today, she’s making her mark at LESCO, the largest power distribution company in Pakistan. Through her experience in the energy sector, Ansarah has realized a powerful truth: the real power lies within. It is a force that no challenge or obstacle can suppress.

Rehan Detho (Batch of 2009, Electronic Engineering, Mehran University of Engineering & Technology, Jamshoro) exemplifies perseverance and dedication. He was recently inducted into the esteemed Provincial Management Services (PMS) through the highly competitive PCS Exam 2018, marking a major milestone in his professional journey.

Originally from Shikarpur, Rehan comes from a modest family background. Despite financial constraints, he remained steadfast in his pursuit of education, completing his entire academic journey from school to university through government institutions.

After earning his B.E. in Electronic Engineering from Mehran University in 2012, Rehan turned his focus toward civil service. With determination and hard work, he prepared for and cleared several competitive examinations, securing multiple positions in the public sector. Since 2016, he has been serving as an Assistant Director (BPS-17) in the Federal Government, where he continues to contribute with dedication and professionalism.
