Climate change is often associated with negative impacts especially in our regions because of specific geographic location and vulnerability to potential climatic threats to ecosystems, economies, weather patterns and communities etc. However, few of us know the positive side of climate change such as longer growing seasons specially for certain crops, extension and exploration of new agriculture lands which were previously considered unsuitable, lowering of heat costs in colder areas, opening of new water ways in case of melting glaciers or renewable energy innovations etc. Having said that climate change has more negative impacts and implications across all regions of the world.

A fresh study has revealed that the Indus Valley Civilization experienced a gradual decline and susequent disappearance approximately 4200 years ago, due to a prolonged megadrought lasting 100-200 years. This unending drought had a severe impact on the availability of water, rainfall patterns, and agricultural yields. The study further discloses that the local residents struggled to adapt to the emerging situation and were forced to relocate to remote areas.....
ایک حالیہ تحقیق سے یہ بات سامنے آئی ہے کہ وادی سندھ کی تہذیب نے تقریباً 4200 سال قبل بتدریج زوال پذیری کا سامنا کیا اور 100-200 سال تک جاری رہنے والے طویل خشک سالی کی وجہ سے پانی کی دستیابی، بارشون اور زرعی پیداوار پر شدید اثر ڈالا۔ اس تحقیق میں مزید انکشاف کیا گیا ہے کہ مقامی باشندوں کو ابھرتی ہوئی صورتحال سے ہم آہنگ ہونے کے لیے جدوجہد کرنا پڑی مگر وہ ناکام گے اور دور دراز علاقوں میں منتقل ہونے پر مجبور ہوئے۔

Makhi Lake (Makhi Dhandh)/Chotiari Reservoir.
Makhi Lake is located in district Sanghar. Popularlry it was haunt of Hur fighters in Sanghar (the frecdom fighters of Pir Pagaro). During war Hurs took refuge in this area and had tense fighting with British army and had retaliation. Later on, the British government abolished all the rights of Hurs on Makhi Dhand. Currently, Makhi Dhand no longer exists. The Makhi has now been converted into Chotiari reservoir which irrigates some parts of Sanghar and adjacent lands of Thar. Few local population particularly Hurs and their families live around Chotiari reservoir.
