The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) session at UOK Model United Nations was a powerful platform for delegates to engage in critical discussions on protecting fundamental human rights, addressing the shrinking of democratic spaces, and promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Delegates presented their perspectives, debated resolutions, and participated in moderated caucuses, demonstrating not only their understanding of complex international issues but also their skills in diplomacy, negotiation, and collaboration. A glimpse from the United Nations General Assembly session at UOK Model United Nations, where delegates engaged in thoughtful debate on the agenda “Advancing Global Peace and Human Security for a Safer, Just, and Cooperative World.”

Throughout the session, delegates presented their perspectives, negotiated with fellow participants, and proposed practical solutions to address global challenges related to peace, cooperation, and human security. The Opening Ceremony of UOK Model United Nations (UOKMUN) began with the ceremonial ribbon cutting, marking the official start of the conference. The ceremony was moderated by Umna Muzzafar Jarral. Dr. Sohaib Khaliq, Chairman of the Department of International Relations at the University of Kotli, briefly introduced the concept and significance of Model United Nations and highlighted its role in promoting diplomacy, critical thinking, and academic engagement among students.

The event was honored by the presence of distinguished guests including Dr. Maroof, Treasurer of the University of Kotli, Dr. Faheem Ghazanafar, Registrar UOK, and Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, Dean Faculty of Management Sciences, who delivered inspiring remarks highlighting the importance of youth engagement and academic dialogue.

Following the ceremony, the United Nations General Assembly session officially commenced under the chairmanship of Kashif Riaz with Maher Zahid serving as Co-Chair. The session focused on the agenda “Advancing Global Peace and Human Security for a Safer, Just, and Cooperative World.”

An important and inspiring meeting was held today between the Head of Team UOKMUN and Fateh Mehmood ul Hassan, a dynamic voice and one of the most promising emerging leaders in youth politics.
Serving as the Focal Person for the Prime Minister’s Youth Program for AJK, he graciously extended his full support to the organizers of UOKMUN. We are truly honored to announce that he will be joining the conference as our Chief Guest.
