Hi friends!

I hope you are all doing great in your lives. I’m finally back after such a long time. I've been incredibly busy with my tiny angels, but I’m going to do my best to be more available here for you all. I’ll be posting more material for students soon. Please accept my apologies for my long absence.

Thanks for your understanding and support!

✨✨✨✨✨

The theme is that a faithful, beautiful woman does not exist. Obviously scorned and/or heartbroken over someone's infidelity, Donne exercises his metaphysical muscles here, lining up a series of conceits that depict impossible things—catching a falling star, impregnating a plant root that is shaped somewhat like a human body, answering unanswerable questions, etc.—and challenges his listener with the hardest of all: to find a woman "true, and fair." In the final stanza he exhibits a bit of bitter humor when he says to let him know if any such creature is found, for he would gladly travel to see her. But then he reasserts his theme by saying "never mind"; even if she were right next door, he wouldn't go because in the time it would take for him to get there, she would have already cheated on two or three others. Pretty disillusioned, eh? And, he hopes you see from reading his cleverly rhymed whine, pretty erudite and witty, too.
