Virtues and Status
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"Tomorrow I will give the banner to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and Allah and His Messenger love him. Allah will grant victory through his hands."
The banner was then given to Ali ibn Abi Talib, and Allah granted victory through him.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ also said:
"You are to me as Aaron was to Moses, except that there will be no prophet after me."

Courage in the Battlefield
In the great battles of early Islam, Ali ibn Abi Talib demonstrated extraordinary bravery:
Battle of Badr
Battle of Uhud
Battle of the Trench
Battle of Khaybar
In every battlefield, he was counted among the bravest warriors of Islam.
Conqueror of Khaybar
During the Battle of Khaybar, when the battle became intense, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave the banner to Ali ibn Abi Talib (RA), and Allah granted victory through him.
Scholars have written that he displayed remarkable courage in this battle and the fortress was conquered.
Some narrations mention that he lifted the gate of Khaybar and used it as a shield.

Father of the Sayyids
Hazrat Ali (RA) is known as the Father of the Sayyids, because the lineage of the Prophet ﷺ continued through his sons:

Husayn ibn Ali
Martyrdom
Amir al-Mu’minin Ali ibn Abi Talib was attacked in the mosque of Kufa during the Fajr prayer in 40 AH by the Kharijite Abd al-Rahman ibn Muljam.
He was wounded on the 17th of Ramadan and attained martyrdom on the 21st of Ramadan.
