The English Literary Society on behalf of Lahore Grammar School Islamabad, is proud to present the very first edition of the ‘Great Shakespeare Debate’. A brand new concept being held in Pakistan for the very first time. The event is a U19 debating competition for both O and A level students. The format of the debate being Parliamentary, will provide participants the opportunity to explore the wor
ld of Shakespeare through dynamic discussion and lively debate. Participants joining us for this three day event, will experience an engagement with one of the most famous authors in literary history's texts in a new and enhancing manner. We also look forward to hosting a social event which is unusual to the format of Parliamentary debating, which will be a Shakespearean themed dinner. The dinner is open to outsiders, and observer passes will be sold from students of Lahore Grammar School. However, the event will be strictly themed based and anyone who does not appear in suitable attire will be requested to leave. The aim behind hosting such an event is to promote Literature amongst our generation, and by taking inspiration from the original GSD which has been annually held in the United Kingdom since 2005, our literary society has managed to recreate it in it’s own unique way. The vitality of literature as a subject is greatly disregarded amongst students, and it’s importance is never acknowledged. Hence, our goal is to show students as well as society literature from a new perspective. School's who have not received an invitation from Lahore Grammar School Islamabad and are interested in registering a team, should contact the following for registration details.
