Having these play sessions with D, like I did with my eldest, brings back so many memories. Feels like it was a lifetime ago!!!
The mother I was then is completely different to the mother I am now.
That mother wanted to do everything and get involved with everything..I remember often thinking...'he's not doing it like they did it on pinterest'.. and then getting involved and saying do it like this and like this.
This mother, is appreciating just letting the moment be. Letting D explore in his own way, and do whatever he wants, learning as he goes along.
How have you changed as a mother from your eldest to your youngest?

When all your furniture hasn't come, but the show must go on... ✍️ 📘
So we've spent a week in the new house so far. Scrubbed and cleaned and ready to live in it before we jet of to England for a holiday next week 🤣
The constant globe trotting, house moving, and resettling has been the biggest thorn in our homeschooling journey. But because homeschooling is so flexibile and adaptable, we will carry on in our ever changing clasroom and routine. We will progress...sometimes fast, sometimes at 🐌 pace and sometimes taking a breather at a pit stop. But it's our own race, with our own rules, and our own finish line... so we're doing just fine 👍
What's been the biggest thorn in your homeschooling journey?

Crocheted these such a long time ago. Didn't think I'd get the chance to put them on him with the heat. But AlhamduLILLAH the opportunity came and i didnt miss it - even if it was just for an hour.
Fits my insta colour pallette. Might delete later. 🤭
How do you unwind after a long day?

Whenever I get messages from parents who are looking to homeschool, I find social skills is always one of their biggest concerns.
Or I get asked "so where do they learn their social skills?" Or one of my favourites "so how do your kids socialise".
I'm just going to stop you all right there and say that my kids are much more socially confident then I ever was or will be ! Haha. I'm the one who awkwardly laughs at everything because i never know what to say or talk about. AND I went to a PUBLIC school for the larger part of my education.
My take on this hot topic is that, social skills are actually learnt at home and then used and developed when they go out in the world. (School is NOT the only way to send your kids into the world) But the foundation is all built at home.
We demonstrate to our children how to show empathy, kindness, tolerance and gratitude to others. We teach them how to co-operate with their siblings and with others. How to hold a conversation with adults/children etc. How to mind their manners e.g greeting people, offering a seat to the elders etc.
Most if not all basic social skills are learnt at home.
And homeschooling does not inhibit these skills. With homeschooling the exposure to the real outside world is way more. They kids accompany you to so many places when your on this journey, to the post office, to the supermarket, the delivery man they see at the door, the shopkeeper, the bus driver and the list goes on and on.
The children are not confined to a classroom where they meet the same teachers and the same children all year round.
What's your opinion on social skills and homeschooling? 👇👇👇

You ever heard that proverb that goes something like:
"It takes a village to raise a child"
As time is passing by, the village system seems to be breaking down, especially for those who are living in non-Muslim countries where often schools are teaching and promoting things which go against our fundamental beliefs.
As a parent you find yourself wondering, how you can guide and protect your children against the exposures of the 'modern' 'developed' society.
These are just some of the reasons why many people are taking their children's education into their own hands. Why many are trying to be more present in their children's lifes and taking any opportunity they get to instill the love of ALLAH (swt) and the Prophet (saw).
It''s difficult working against the pressure and it can be mentally taxing but hats of to you! Well done. And keep going. Renewing your intentions. It will get easy. It has to. Ease has been promised to you.
