What is ایمان? Or Faith?

Faith or ایمان means to believe on the وحی which is the revelation from Allah SWT, bestowed upon Prophets PBUH.

Prophets tell us about the truths of this universe that are unseen and unknown to human beings. The truth such as the existence of God or Allah swt, His prophets, the day of judgement or یوم الآخرۃ, heaven and hell, cannot be seen by the human beings. All the prophets PBUH were given this revelation to tell to the humanity. Believing on this is Emaan.

There are two categories or levels of Emaan:
1: ایمان باللسان or Lawful Faith: This means that a person declares himself as a bearer of Emaan by saying Shahadah. By doing so, he will be dilated as Muslim and all the laws of Islam will be applied on him.

2: تصدیق بالقلب or Confirmation by Heart: This means that a person completely believe in the existence is Allah swt, believes in His prophets PBUH, and the day of judgement. And he do so by heart.

The true faith is the summation of these two categories stated above. A true believer or Mu’min is the one who hasایمان باللسان and ایمان بالقلب.
