Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja is a prominent Pakistani politician and the current Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, having assumed office in March 2024. Ms. Shaza is currently leading country's digitization and B-Governance Plan being the Federal Minister for IT & Telecom. She is also leading country's IT export growth Plan to reach the mark of USD 25 billion in next 5 years. Through prioritizing Digital Governance and country's tech sector branding internationally, she is leading Digital Pakistan and Techdestination Pakistan campaigns. Currently, major reforms for Telecom Sector and IT Sector, led by her office, are underway to attract Foreign Direct Investment in the country and to showcase Pakistan as next Tech Destination in Global arena.

Dr. Naveed Sherwani is a world-renowned semiconductor expert, entrepreneur, and leader in chip design. Dr. Sherwani has founded or co-founded numerous influential semiconductor companies across the globe. Dr. Sherwani is the Chairman of the National Semiconductor Hub of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well as the architect of Pakistan’s Semiconductor Plan. He has been awarded with Pakistan’s Sitara-e-Quaid-e-Azam as well as Hilal-i-Imtiaz.

Dr. Farhat Jahangir serves as the CEO at GS Microelectronics. Prior to joining GSME he was serving as VP & GM of Manufacturing at Onsemi at New York. Dr. Farhat has over 28 years of successful experience in global manufacturing, Fab & OSAT operations, supplier management, building partnerships, and the assurance of quality & reliability processes. He has been pivotal in supporting the Chip Design efforts in Pakistan.

organized a Round Table Talk Dialogue on
“Strengthening Pakistan’s Semiconductor Ecosystem: From Building Blocks to Global Integration,”
on Thursday, 29 January,2026. This dialogue aimed to foster meaningful discussion on challenges,
opportunities, and strategic pathways for advancing Pakistan’s semiconductor landscape.
A glimpse into IIUI’s high-level National Semiconductor Roundtable, where policymakers, academia, industry leaders, and global experts came together to shape Pakistan’s semiconductor future.
The dialogue underscored semiconductors as a national priority, linking policy, research, industry growth, and workforce development, while positioning IIUI as a key academic and policy convener in this strategic domain.
