🎮🌍 SOCIAL ACTION PROJECT – FIELD VISIT REPORT
SDGs Scouts for E-Sports | NUML Islamabad*
As part of our Social Action Project, SDGs Scouts for E-Sports, a stakeholder meeting was conducted at the Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad with Mr. Ashraf, Assistant Director, to discuss the role of E-Sports in youth development and its alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4, SDG 8, SDG 9, and SDG 11).
The objective of the visit was to present our project and advocate for the inclusion of E-Sports facilities to promote digital skills, innovation, and youth engagement.
During the meeting, the team highlighted how E-Sports can contribute to digital citizenship, skill development in areas such as gaming strategy, graphic design, and online collaboration, while also supporting economic growth and innovation. It was also shared that the Sports Complex currently does not have an E-Sports section, although a previous initiative had been attempted but could not be sustained due to space limitations.
Mr. Ashraf appreciated the initiative and acknowledged the growing importance of E-Sports for youth engagement. He assured that the matter would be presented to higher authorities for further consideration regarding facility development.
The visit significantly enhanced our understanding of institutional advocacy, policy dialogue, and stakeholder engagement. It also reinforced the importance of structured proposals for sustainable implementation of youth-focused initiatives.
We recommend developing a formal proposal highlighting infrastructure needs, benefits, and long-term impact to support future progress.

🎮🌍 SOCIAL ACTION PROJECT FIELD WORK REPORT
Department of Governance and Public Policy, NUML Islamabad
Students of the Social Action Project titled “SDGs & E-Sports Awareness” conducted awareness and engagement visits on 18 May at Abbasyn University (Check Shehzad Campus) and Iqra University (Check Shehzad Campus), Islamabad under the supervision of Dr.Athar Rashid.
The objective of the activity was to identify and engage students with little to no prior knowledge of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and E-Sports, and to introduce them to their relevance in education, skill development, and career opportunities.
Through interactive on-site surveys and brief awareness sessions, the team provided simplified introductions to SDGs with a focus on SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure). Students were also introduced to NUML University and the broader objectives of the Social Action Project.
The sessions highlighted how E-Sports can go beyond gaming and contribute to digital literacy, teamwork, innovation, and future employment opportunities when used responsibly and purposefully.
The activity revealed that many students had limited prior exposure to SDGs and structured E-Sports concepts. However, strong interest was observed once real-life applications and career pathways were explained. Both campuses appreciated the initiative and encouraged further engagement sessions.
This fieldwork significantly contributed to increasing baseline awareness while strengthening the team’s skills in communication, audience identification, and simplified knowledge delivery.
Together, we are building awareness for a more informed and digitally empowered generation. 💡🎮
