The Faculty Development Academy (FDA), COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) organized Capacity Building Training Program for Tech and Digital Transformation to Improve Office Efficiency on January 29, 2026, in CUI Islamabad. The objective of the training was to build capacity for the officer-grade employees of CUI Principal Seat, Islamabad campus and Virtual Campus for tech and digital transformation to improve office efficiency. The focus was on the use of AI and automation tools to improve effectiveness and efficiency. The resource person of the training session was Mr Fazal Ur Rehman Azad, Deputy Controller of Examination, CUI, Virtual Campus.
The training program was in line with the vision of the Rector CUI, Prof. Dr Raheel Qamar, T.I., to transform the university to digitalise its processes and enhance the use of AI tools to perform jobs efficiently for the ultimate satisfaction of students, employees, customers and stakeholders. This training was valuable to initiate the process of optimising workflows and improving the overall office efficiency of the university.
CUI is committed to build capacity of its employees by offering training to foster a culture of excellence and employee development to contribute to achieving the University's overall mission. A group photo of the training session was taken to commemorate the occasion.

The Faculty Development Academy (FDA), COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), organised a Capacity Building Training Program for Tech and Digital Transformation to Improve Office Efficiency on December 18, 2025, in CUI Abbottabad. The objective of the training was to build capacity for the officers and staff members of CUI Abbottabad for tech and digital transformation to improve office efficiency. The focus was on the use of AI and automation tools to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
There were two sessions of the training. The first session was for officers, and the second session was for staff members of CUI Abbottabad. Each session was 90 minutes long. The resource person for both sessions was Mr Fazal Ur Rehman Azad, Deputy Controller of Examination, CUI, Virtual Campus. Prof. Dr Shahid Khattak, acting Rector of CUI and Director of CUI, Abbottabad, was the chief guest of the training and gave his address in the opening session of the training.
The training program was in line with the vision of the Rector of CUI, Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar, T.I., to transform the university to digitalise its processes and enhance the use of AI tools to perform jobs efficiently for ultimate satisfaction of students, employees, customers and stakeholders.
This training was valuable to initiate the process of optimising workflows and improving the overall office efficiency of the university.

The Faculty Development Academy (FDA), COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) organised Training on GenAI, Ethics and the Future of Work on December 18, 2025, in the CUI Abbottabad campus. The objective of the training was to build awareness among faculty members of CUI Abbottabad on the impact of Generative AI on future work, especially in higher education teaching, as well as its ethical considerations.
The resource person for the training was Prof Dr Sajjad A Madani, Controller of Examination, CUI and renowned Professor of Computer Science, CUI. Prof. Dr Shahid Khattak, acting Rector CUI and Director, CUI, Abbottabad, was the chief guest of the training and gave his address in the opening session of the training.
The training program was in line with the vision of the Rector of CUI, Prof. Dr Raheel Qamar, T.I., to improve the quality of teaching and University readiness towards GenAI and the future of academics in higher education.

The Faculty Development Academy (FDA), COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), organised Training on GenAI, Ethics and the Future of Work on December 12, 2025, in CUI Attock Campus. The objective of the training was to build awareness among faculty members of CUI Attock on the impact of Generative AI on future work and its ethical considerations.
The faculty members of CUI Attock were divided into two groups depending on their academic commitments. The resource person for the training was Prof Dr Sajjad A Madani, Controller of Examinations, CUI and renowned Professor of Computer Science.
Prof. Dr Laiq Khan, Director, CUI, Attock, was the chief guest of the training and gave his intellectual address in the opening session of the training.
The training program was in line with the vision of the Rector Prof. Dr Raheel Qamar, T.I., to improve the quality of teaching and University readiness towards GenAI and the future of academics in higher education.

The Faculty Development Academy (FDA), COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) proudly organized a comprehensive two-day training program on Koha Integrated Library System from September 22 - 23, 2025 in CUI Islamabad.
The training was designed to enhance the technical expertise and operational efficiency of library and IT professionals of CUI through hands on training on open-source library management platform. The participants of the training were library officials working in all campuses of CUI and IT professionals managing KOHA software.
The training program commenced with an inaugural ceremony featuring the recitation of the Holy Quran, setting a solemn and inspiring tone for the event. Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch, Incharge FDA, delivered a warm welcome address, highlighting the significance of the training in advancing the capacities of employees of the library and IT departments. The training is in line with the vision of Rector CUI and FDA's ongoing commitment towards professional growth, development, and capacity building of employees of CUI.
The resource person of the training was Mr. Ata-ur-Rehman, a distinguished specialist in Library Automation and Digital Systems, who brought a wealth of knowledge and practical insights to the participants. Over the course of two days, attendees engaged in interactive and hands-on training that covered a wide range of functionalities within the Koha Integrated Library System.
This training aimed not only to familiarize participants with the technical aspects of the Koha system but also to empower them with the skills necessary to streamline and modernize library operations effectively. By integrating this advanced, open-source technology, the library professionals are better positioned to enhance resource management, improve user services, and support the academic community more efficiently.
The Faculty Development Academy remains committed towards continuous professional growth and capacity building of faculty, officers and staff of the COMSATS University Islamabad.

The Faculty Development Academy, COMSATS University Islamabad, organized Excellence in Academia - In-Service Training Program 2025 for faculty members hired in the 38th Selection Board of CUI. It was a two-day intense training program from 0900 to 1645 hrs from Aug 26-27, 2025, at CUI Islamabad Campus. There were 15 participants from the Department of Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering of CUI Islamabad, Wah, and Attock campuses, who were hired last year in the 38th selection board of CUI. The purpose of the training was to build capacity, enhancing the soft skills, knowledge, and competence of faculty members.

The In-Service Training Program 2025 had eight (8) sessions of ninety minutes each. The topics of the training were:

a) Introduction to Bloom's Taxonomy and CUI Scheme of Studies.
b) Preparing Effective Lesson Plans.
c) Delivering Effective Lectures.
d) Testing and Assessment.
e) Out of the Box Thinking.
f) Teaching in the 21st Century and Becoming a Reflective Teacher.
g) Communication and Interpersonal Skills.
h) Emotional Intelligence and Stress Management.

The resource persons at the training sessions were:
a) Dr. Muhammad Imran Shahzad, Chairman and Tenured Associate Professor, Meteorology Department
b) Dr. Ayesha Inam, Tenured Associate Professor, Humanities Department,

There were 13 participants in the In-Service Training Program 2025 from the Department of Computer Science, Media, and Pharmacy of CUI Lahore campus who were hired last year on the 38th selection board of CUI.

The purpose of the training was to build capacity, enhance soft skills, knowledge, and performance of faculty members. The In-Service Training Program 2025 had eight (8) sessions of ninety minutes each. The topics of the training were

d) Teaching Ethics
e) Time Management
f) Communication and Interpersonal Skills,
g) Classroom Management and
h) Emotional Intelligence and Stress Management.

The Faculty Development Academy, COMSATS University Islamabad, organized an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Training Program for Chairpersons of COMSATS University Islamabad on Aug 12-13, 2025. The purpose of the training was to train Chairpersons of CUI so that they may implement OBE in their academic departments across the CUI system. It was two days intensive training program starting from 1000 hrs till 1630 hrs.

The training program was formally started with the opening ceremony. After the recitation of the holy Quran, Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch, Incharge FDA, welcomed the participants and shared the objectives of the training program. The training was organized on the directions of the Rector CUI to implement OBE in all academic departments of CUI. The Rector CUI addressed the participants and shared his vision and goals for the training. He emphasized the importance and need for OBE and how to improve the quality of teaching using OBE.

The resource persons of the OBE Training Program were Prof. Dr. Muhammad Junaid Mughal T.I., Dean, Faculty of Engineering CUI, and Dr Haroon Ahmed Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Engineering, CUI, Islamabad. A total of 14 Chairpersons attended the training.

It was a two-day-long training session. The training had eight sessions. The first session was an Introduction to OBE and Bloom's Taxonomy. The second session was on the Vision and Mission of the OBE Context. The third session was on defining PEOs and PLOs. The fourth session was on Writing CLOs. The fifth session was on Aligning Curriculum with Outcomes. The sixth session was on Assessment in Learning Outcomes. The seventh session was on Course Folder Preparation. The eighth session was on Continuous Quality Improvement Cycle and Feedback.

The training was highly successful. The training was very engaging, and participants had fruitful discussions on different concepts of OBE and its role in the improvement of the quality of teaching. The participants were very enthusiastic and satisfied with the quality of content and learning outcomes of the training.

FDA acknowledged the efforts of Rector CUI, Incharge Islamabad campus, and his team in successfully arranging the training. The certificates will be awarded to the participants on successful completion of the training. A group photo was taken as a token of memory.
