The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) confirmed the sighting of a leopard on its campus on December 24, 2025, leading to an immediate temporary closure of all units for safety.
As of late December 2025, the following safety measures and search efforts are active:
Campus Closure: The university administration suspended classes and closed all academic blocks and units immediately after the animal was spotted hiding in bushes near the female hostel and academic areas.
Search Operation: The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) and local police are conducting on-ground search operations, having confirmed physical signs of the leopard's presence on campus.
Safety Precautions: Wildlife experts have installed traps and are patrolling the area to safely capture and relocate the animal back to the Margalla Hills National Park.
Advisory for Students: Students and staff have been urged to stay indoors, avoid moving alone at night, and refrain from entering forested or bushy areas of the campus until further notice.
Official Communication: The university has advised stakeholders to follow the IIUI Official page for authentic updates and to ignore unverified social media rumors.
