On May 19th, 2026, the department of English (UGS), National University of Modern Languages, was invited to the Lincoln Corner Islamabad for a hands-on practical training session titled: “Unlocking Opportunity: Mastering the E-LibraryUS Platform”. BS English students from 6th semester, commencing on their article writing journey, got the chance to participate in this session.
The program introduced the young researchers to academic databases, research tools, and digital learning platforms available through the E-LibraryUSA. The session strengthened the participants’ ability to access credible U.S. knowledge resources for education, research, and professional growth while enhancing their understanding of American academic and research ecosystems.

These snippets showcase the enlightening atmosphere of our webinar on the “Neurological Aspects of Speech Disorders,” featuring an in-depth discussion led by Dr. Muhammad Adil.
The footage captures the vibrant interaction between our BS English students and our guest expert, specifically focusing on how the brain governs language production and comprehension. From deep dives into cognitive processing to an informative question-and-answer session, the webinar provided a truly intellectually enriching experience that pushed learning beyond the traditional classroom setting.
By exploring how brain functions directly influence communication, students were able to significantly broaden their professional horizons within the field of communication sciences.

On May 8th, 2026, the Department of English (UGS) at the National University of Modern Languages successfully hosted an informative international webinar titled “Neurological Aspects of Speech Disorders.” This session, conducted via Google Meet, offered a comprehensive exploration of the neurological foundations of speech and the intricate relationship between language, cognition, and the human brain.
We were honored to have Dr. Muhammad Adil, an Assistant Consultant Neurosurgeon from the prestigious King Faisal Specialist Hospital, KSA, as our keynote speaker. Drawing from his extensive clinical experience, Dr. Adil provided our faculty and students with invaluable insights into the causes, diagnosis, and real-world impact of neurological speech disorders.
This webinar served as a powerful platform that effectively bridged the gap between medical science and linguistic theory, emphasizing the vital role of interdisciplinary approaches in understanding communication impairments.

On 21st April, 2026, the Department of English (UGS) of National University of Modern Languages, arranged an inspirational “Book Launch Event” via a virtual Zoom meeting from 9 a.m to 11 a.m. The webinar focused on Dr. Ted Morrissey’s new book, “Aspiring Child: A Biography of Mary W. Shelley in Sonnets” which follows the woeful yet resilient life of Mary Shelley through a unique narrative style of sonnets.
Dr. Ted Morrissey is an accomplished novelist, poet, scholar and educator from Lindenwood University, USA. Dr. Morrissey, the author himself, was the key guest speaker at the event.
The webinar was presided over by the Dean, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Dr. Arshad Mehmood and the Head of the Department of English (UGS), Dr. Muntazar Mehdi. It was attended by the Focal persons as well as the avid students of BS English.
This event provided a platform to the BS English students at NUML to demonstrate their sagacity and intellect through critical analyses of all 100 sonnets composed in Dr. Morrissey’s book. Furthermore, Dr. Morrissey provided his own vision, background, inspiration and creative process that went into writing his book as well as further insight into Mary Shelley’s life, how his own work mirrors the strategic publishing technique that of Mary’s when she published her own husband’s work after his death.
The webinar was an illuminating and motivational experience for all those who attended and a treat for the literary enthusiasts.
