The department of Civil Engineering participated in CIVIL NEXUS 2.0 organized by *American Society for Civil Engineers* ASCE WEC Chapter, Wah Engineering College. Our students participated in five different modules.
✓ CUST student, Syed Abbas Gillani, won the module of Bending Moment and Shear Force Diagram Challenge.
✓ CUST team (Zainab Chaudhry, Eeman Saleem, Zain Ali and Raja Talal) stood runner-up in a module of bridge competition.

The session highlighted practical design approaches, structural behaviour, and real-world challenges in steel construction, providing students with valuable industry-oriented knowledge and strengthening the bridge between academia and professional practice.

The Department of Civil Engineering successfully organized a software workshop featuring Engr. Hassan Tahir, Structural Engineer at Designmen Consulting. During the session, he demonstrated the complete design workflow of a steel warehouse structure using BIM tools. We sincerely thank Engr. Hassan Tahir for sharing his expertise. Looking forward to more such industry–academia collaborations!

The Civil Engineering Department - CUST Islamabad at Capital University of Science & Technology proudly congratulates Dr. Majid Ali on achieving an outstanding record of 300+ research publications from 2006 to 2026. Among these, around 90% (i.e. 275+) publications are with up to three authors only.

Research work was supervised by Engr. M. Waqas Malik. This achievement reflects their hard work, research dedication, and commitment to advancing knowledge in structural and earthquake engineering. Their work focuses on the comparative understanding of seismic analysis techniques used for reinforced concrete structures, contributing toward safer and more efficient structural design practices.

Civil Engineering Department - CUST Islamabad continues to strengthen technical learning through collaborative training sessions. Engr. Shaheed Ullah from the Civil Engineering Department, CUST Islamabad, delivered a focused training on “Project Planning and Scheduling using Primavera P6” for KIT students. The session highlighted practical project planning, scheduling, and effective use of Primavera P6 in construction management. A separate technical session on “Data Extraction and Processing from Total Station” was delivered by Engr. Minhas Shah for KIT faculty. The training emphasized efficient field data extraction and processing.

The excellent writing of Syed Abbas Gillani (final year student of CUST CE department) is published in the periodical "Construction Technologies and Architecture, Volume 23, edition of May 2026" by Scientific.Net (widely indexed in SCOPUS). The work was co-authored by his class fellows Ibrahim Ahmed Alam, Umair Babar and supervised by Engr. Prof. Dr. Majid Ali.

For this research, Syed Abbas Gillani was awarded the "GOLD MEDAL" for the best paper in the 15th International Civil Engineering Conference organized by The Institute of Engineers Pakistan and NED UET Karachi, held on November 7-8, 2025.

The department of Civil Engineering conducted an internship information-cum training session for civil engineering students on April 28, 2026. Engr. Muhammad Waqas Malik, senior lecturer and internship coordinator, was the resource person for the training. The session covered guidance on securing internships and enhancing technical skills during an internship, along with a briefing on departmental internship procedure, evaluation, and assessment criteria. It was encouraging to see active participation and thoughtful engagement from students as they prepare for their professional journey ahead.
