Teaching License Policy Test Structure & Passing Criteria
The licensing tests are administered by an independent third party to ensure strict transparency and standard quality control. The assessment evaluates both theoretical understanding and core pedagogical competence.
Content Knowledge (30%): Evaluates subject-matter expertise.
Psychometric Assessment (20%): Assesses professional attitude, personality traits, and psychological fitness for teaching.
Pedagogical Content Knowledge (50%): Focuses heavily on teaching methodology. Key Policy Highlights & Impacts
1. Fast-Track Career Progression
New entrants who pass the licensing exam are fast-tracked and eligible to apply directly for BPS-16 Elementary School Teacher roles. For existing public sector teachers, obtaining a license opens access to expedited promotion channels and continuous career development incentives.
2. Voluntary Participation
The policy operates on a voluntary basis for already employed public and private school educators. Teachers who choose not to opt into the licensing track can continue on their traditional service pathways without facing any negative adjustments to their current employment terms.
3. Validity and Renewal
A teaching license is valid for 5 years. To renew it, educators must complete 5 credit hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) courses from STEDA-approved institutions and pay the structural renewal fee. Late renewals accumulate additional CPD credit requirements proportional to the delayed duration.
