Karakoram International University (KIU) has received formal approval from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan to launch its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Education programme, with the issuance of an official No Objection Certificate (NOC).

According to the KIU Public Relations Office, the programme will commence from the Fall 2026 Semester. Director Karakoram Graduate School, Associate Professor Dr. Asad Ullah, stated that applicants must hold an MS/MPhil in Education with a minimum CGPA of 3.00/4.00, along with at least 60% marks in an HEC-recognized GRE, HAT, or G*T (General/Subject) test.

Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Razaq congratulated the School of Education, the Karakoram Graduate School, and the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) on securing the HEC approval. He expressed confidence that the programme would be implemented in accordance with HEC quality standards and would significantly enhance advanced research and higher education opportunities for students in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Karakoram International University (KIU) distributed scholarship cheques to 21 talented students under the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) scholarship program, providing financial assistance to support their higher education.

According to KIU’s Public Relations Office, the scholarship distribution ceremony was held at the university’s main campus, where Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Razaq attended as the chief guest. Senior university officials and scholarship recipients were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Abdul Razaq urged students to remain focused on their studies, further improve their academic performance, and pursue their goals with dedication and determination. He congratulated the scholarship recipients on their achievements, describing the awards as recognition of their hard work, talent, and commitment to excellence.

The Acting Vice Chancellor expressed gratitude to the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) for its continued support of KIU students through financial assistance programs. He appreciated the organization's contribution to promoting higher education and requested an increase in the number of scholarships so that more deserving students could benefit from the initiative and continue their education without financial constraints.

He also acknowledged the efforts of the Financial Aid Office, particularly Director Financial Aid Office Shahid Ahmed Shigri and his team, for facilitating the scholarship process.

Earlier, Director Financial Aid Office Shahid Ahmed Shigri delivered a detailed briefing on the PEEF Scholarship Program and its role in supporting deserving and high-achieving students.

📢 Important Update – Laptop Distribution at Karakoram International University (KIU)

Karakoram International University (KIU) has issued Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) to ensure a smooth, transparent, and well-organized laptop distribution process for selected students.

All departments are requested to make necessary arrangements and share the list of laptop awardees at the earliest, particularly those receiving laptops from the Chief Guest and distinguished guests.

📌 Key Instructions for Students:
Students must bring the following attested documents (by HOD/Concerned) on the distribution day:
• Original CNIC
• Passport size photograph
• Official Degree (DMC)/Transcript or Result showing CGPA (issued by Examination Section)
• Photocopy of CNIC

📌 Event Management Guidelines:
• Faculty and Super Focal Persons must ensure discipline during the event
• HODs and Super Focal Persons must be present on distribution day
• Minimum 5 verification desks must be arranged
• Ensure availability of system, printer, barcode scanner, internet, and stationery

📌 Distribution Process:
1️⃣ Document verification by HOD & Super Focal Person
2️⃣ Verification by HEC Officer through system
3️⃣ Final step: Submission of documents, signing of disclaimer form, and laptop collection

All concerned are requested to strictly follow the SOPs to ensure a smooth and transparent distribution process.
