By the Grace of Almighty Allah, THE DEPARTMENT OF MICROBIOLOGY, ABBOTTTABAD UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY (AUST), has achieved another significant milestone by launching the first-ever departmental Internship Program in the history of the University.

The online registration process through the prescribed application form has been successfully completed, and 50 talented students have been selected for this 4–6 week hands-on training program, commencing on 27th July 2026. Throughout the internship, participants will gain practical experience in fundamental microbiology laboratory techniques, strengthen their technical skills, and enhance their professional competencies through supervised laboratory training.

The participation of students from the UNIVERSITY OF HARIPUR (UoH), HAZARA UNIVERSITY, and AFFILIATED COLLEGE reflects the growing reputation, academic excellence, and credibility of our department. This overwhelming response demonstrates the confidence that students and institutions have in the quality of education and practical training offered by the Department of Microbiology.

آج سے ایک سال قبل ڈاکٹر ایوب جدون نے شعبۂ مائیکرو بایولوجی کے سربراہ کی ذمہ داری اس عزم کے ساتھ سنبھالی کہ شعبے کو اعلیٰ تعلیمی معیار، عملی تربیت، تحقیق اور طلبہ کی ہمہ جہت ترقی کے ذریعے نئی بلندیوں تک پہنچایا جائے۔

صرف ایک سال کے عرصے میں ان کی انتھک محنت، مؤثر قیادت اور دور اندیش وژن نے ایبٹ آباد یونیورسٹی آف سائنس اینڈ ٹیکنالوجی کے شعبۂ مائیکرو بایولوجی کو یونیورسٹی کے سب سے زیادہ فعال، ترقی پذیر، تیزی سے آگے بڑھنے والے اور نمایاں شعبوں میں شامل کر دیا ہے۔ آج یہ شعبہ عملی تعلیم، تحقیق، جدت، طلبہ کی شخصیت سازی اور پیشہ ورانہ تربیت کے حوالے سے ایک ممتاز مقام حاصل کر چکا ہے۔

اس ایک سال کے دوران شعبے میں متعدد تاریخی اور قابلِ فخر کامیابیاں حاصل ہوئیں، جنہوں نے شعبۂ مائیکرو بایولوجی کو ایک نئی شناخت عطا کی۔

:عملی تربیتی ورکشاپس

طلبہ کی عملی تربیت کے لیے باقاعدگی سے ورکشاپس کا انعقاد کیا گیا، جہاں انہیں جدید لیبارٹری تکنیکیں سیکھنے اور عملی مہارتیں حاصل کرنے کے بہترین مواقع فراہم کیے گئے۔

:تعلیمی اور صنعتی دورے

طلبہ کی علمی اور عملی استعداد میں اضافے کے لیے مختلف لیبارٹریوں اور صنعتی اداروں کے تعلیمی دورے کروائے گئے۔ حال ہی میں قرشی انڈسٹریز، ہٹڑ کے دورے نے طلبہ کو صنعتی مائیکرو بایولوجی اور معیار کی جانچ کے عملی نظام سے روشناس کرایا۔

:انٹرن شپ کے مواقع

طلبہ کو قومی ادارۂ صحت (NIH)، قومی زرعی تحقیقاتی مرکز (NARC) اور ایبٹ لیبارٹریز جیسے معروف اداروں میں انٹرن شپ کے مواقع فراہم کیے گئے، جبکہ شعبے کی تاریخ میں پہلی مرتبہ پچاس طلبہ کو شعبے کے اندر بھی انٹرن شپ کا موقع دیا گیا۔

:تحقیقی اور علمی سرگرمیاں

اوپن سائنوپسس ڈیفنس، اوپن جی آر سی سیشنز، اوپن ایگزٹ سیمینارز، سیمینارز، عوامی لیکچرز اور ورکشاپ 1.0 اور ورکشاپ 2.0 کے انعقاد کے ذریعے تحقیق، سائنسی سوچ اور علمی ماحول کو مزید فروغ دیا گیا۔

:مائیکرو بایولوجی ایکسپو 2026

طلبہ نے سائنسی ماڈلز، تحقیقی منصوبے اور تعلیمی چارٹس پیش کیے، جن کے ذریعے مائیکرو بایولوجی کے وسیع دائرۂ کار اور عملی اہمیت کو مؤثر انداز میں اجاگر کیا گیا۔

:تحقیقی میدان میں نمایاں کامیابیاں

شعبے نے قومی اور بین الاقوامی تحقیقی جرائد میں نمایاں اشاعتیں کیں، جبکہ ہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن کے میگا ریسرچ منصوبے کو بھی کامیابی سے مکمل کیا گیا۔

:لیبارٹریوں کی بہتری

طلبہ کو معیاری عملی اور تحقیقی ماحول فراہم کرنے کے لیے لیبارٹریوں کو جدید سہولیات اور جدید آلات سے مزید مضبوط بنایا گیا۔

:اسکالرشپس اور لیپ ٹاپ کے مواقع

قابل اور مستحق طلبہ کے لیے مختلف اسکالرشپس اور لیپ ٹاپ کے مواقع فراہم کیے گئے، جس سے ان کی تعلیمی ترقی کو مزید تقویت ملی۔

:اعزازات اور حوصلہ افزائی

نمایاں کارکردگی دکھانے والے طلبہ کے لیے بہترین مائیکرو بایولوجسٹ ایوارڈز اور تعلیمی و کھیلوں کے اعزازات متعارف کروائے گئے تاکہ بہترین کارکردگی کی حوصلہ افزائی کی جا سکے۔

:کھیلوں میں نمایاں کامیابیاں

شعبے نے فٹ بال میں چیمپئن بننے، کرکٹ میں رنر اپ رہنے اور دیگر کھیلوں میں شاندار کامیابیاں حاصل کر کے یونیورسٹی میں اپنی منفرد شناخت قائم کی۔

:بہار کے داخلوں کا آغاز

شعبے کی تاریخ میں پہلی مرتبہ بہار کے داخلوں کا آغاز کیا گیا، جس سے مزید طلبہ کو مائیکرو بایولوجی میں اعلیٰ تعلیم حاصل کرنے کا موقع ملا۔

صرف ایک سال میں ڈاکٹر ایوب جدون کی بصیرت افروز قیادت نے شعبۂ مائیکرو بایولوجی کو نئی سمت، نئی شناخت اور بے شمار کامیابیاں عطا کیں۔ آج یہ شعبہ ایبٹ آباد یونیورسٹی آف سائنس اینڈ ٹیکنالوجی کے نمایاں ترین شعبوں میں شمار ہوتا ہے، اور ان شاء اللہ اسی جذبے، محنت اور وژن کے ساتھ نہ صرف ہزارہ بلکہ پورے خیبر پختونخوا کے صفِ اول کے شعبہ ہائے مائیکرو بایولوجی میں اپنی ممتاز شناخت مزید مضبوط کرے گا۔

ڈاکٹر ایوب جدون کو شعبۂ مائیکرو بایولوجی کے سربراہ کی حیثیت سے کامیابی کے ساتھ پہلا سال مکمل کرنے پر دلی مبارک باد۔

CELEBRATING ONE YEAR OF VISIONARY LEADERSHIP

A year ago, Dr. AYUB JADOON assumed the role of HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT OF of MICROBIOLOGY with a clearer vision to strengthen the department through academic excellence, practical education, research, and student development. Within just one year, his dedication, commitment, and dynamic leadership have transformed the DEPARTMENT OF MICROBIOLOGY into one of the most active, progressive, rapidly growing, and leading departments at ABBOTTTABAD UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCES & TECHNOLOGY (AUST).

During this remarkable journey, several historic milestones were achieved under his leadership.

Major Achievements During the First Year

• Strengthening Practical Education:
Regular hands on laboratory workshops were introduced, allowing BS students to perform microbiological techniques themselves. Students now graduate with practical laboratory skills alongside strong theoretical knowledge.

• Workshops 1.0 & 2.0:
Professional workshops were organized to provide practical exposure in microbiological techniques, modern laboratory practices, and research methodology, helping students build confidence and technical expertise.

• Educational & Industrial Visits:
Several educational and industrial tours were arranged to renowned laboratories and industries. Students visited Qarshi Industries, Hattar, where they observed industrial microbiology, quality control systems, and laboratory operations firsthand.

• Internship Opportunities:
Students were facilitated for internships at prestigious institutions including NIH, NARC, and Abbott Laboratories through departmental collaborations. For the first time in the department's history, internships were also offered to 50 students within the department, providing valuable practical experience.

• Scholarships & Laptop 💻 Opportunities:
The department actively guided deserving students in securing scholarships and laptop schemes, encouraging academic excellence and reducing financial barriers.

• Open Synopsis Defences:
Open Synopsis Defence sessions for MPhil and PhD scholars were introduced, promoting academic transparency, research discussions, and constructive scientific feedback.

• Open GRC Sessions:
Graduate Research Committee (GRC) meetings were held openly in the ORIC Hall, allowing students to present their research and learn from expert discussions.

• Open Exit Seminars:
Research students presented their final work in open Exit Seminars at the ORIC Hall, encouraging scientific communication and knowledge sharing.

• Seminars & Public Lectures:
A series of seminars and public lectures by experienced professionals and researchers broadened students' scientific knowledge and exposed them to current developments in microbiology.

• Microbiology Expo 2026 (Version 1.0):
Students displayed scientific models, research projects, innovative ideas, and educational charts, demonstrating the broad scope and practical applications of microbiology in healthcare, industry, agriculture, and environmental sciences.

• Sports & Co-curricular Achievements:
The department actively participated in Sports Week and proudly became Football ⚽ Champions, Cricket 🏏 Runner-up, while securing victories in several other competitions. Outstanding students were recognized through Sports and Academic Excellence Awards.

• Best Microbiologist Awards:
To encourage academic excellence and research, the department introduced the Best Microbiologist Awards, recognizing outstanding student performance.

• Academic Success
The department proudly celebrated the successful completion of the BS Microbiology Batch (2022–2026) and several MPhil graduates, while also producing one PhD graduate during this year.

• National Academic Collaboration:
The department strengthened connections with Microbiology Departments across Pakistan, opening new opportunities for academic collaboration, research, and student development.

• Research Excellence:
Faculty members and students contributed to national and international research publications, enhancing the department's academic reputation.

• HEC Mega Research Project:
A prestigious HEC Mega Research Project was successfully completed, reflecting the department's growing research strength.

• Strengthening Laboratory Infrastructure:
Laboratories were upgraded with improved facilities, equipment, and research resources, providing students with a modern learning and research environment.

• Historic Spring Admissions:
For the first time in the history of the department, admissions were successfully offered in the Spring Semester, expanding educational opportunities for future microbiologists.

Within just one year, the Department of Microbiology has become one of the most active, progressive, rapidly growing, and leading departments at Abbottabad University of Science & Technology. These achievements reflect the visionary leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment of Dr. AYUB JADOON toward academic excellence, research, innovation, and student success.

Academic Visit to Qarshi Industry( Haripur Hattar)

The Department of Microbiology successfully organized an academic visit to Qarshi Industry, Haripur Hattar, with the aim of providing students with practical exposure to industrial microbiology and its real-world applications.

During the visit, the students were warmly welcomed by the management of Qarshi Industry and were given a comprehensive tour of the laboratories, production units, and processing facilities. The industry experts demonstrated how various natural products are manufactured, explained the complete production process, and introduced the students to modern laboratory practices, quality control procedures, and advanced equipment. The interactive sessions enabled students to gain valuable industrial knowledge and a deeper understanding of professional laboratory operations.

A key point of the visit was the discussion of a future Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Department of Microbiology and Qarshi Industry.It was mutually agreed that the MoU is expected to be signed in the near future to establish a strong academic industry partnership. This collaboration will provide students with valuable opportunities for internships, industrial training, research activities, and practical learning within the industry, helping them enhance their professional skills and gain hands-on experience.

The management of Qarshi Industry also arranged refreshments for the students and extended exceptional hospitality throughout the visit, ensuring a welcoming and professional learning environment.

The Department of Microbiology extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Ayub Jadoon, Head of the Department, whose dedication, continuous efforts, and supervision made this academic visit a great success and laid the foundation for a valuable future collaboration that will benefit both the department and its students.
