Standard IELTS Essay Structure
1. Introduction (40β50 words)
Paraphrase the question (say it in your own words).
State your position/thesis (your opinion or what you will discuss).
Mention the main points youβll cover (outline statement).
Template:
βSome people argue that [paraphrase topic]. In my opinion, I believe that [your position]. This essay will discuss [main point 1] and [main point 2] before reaching a conclusion.β

2. Body Paragraph 1 (80β100 words)
Topic sentence: Introduce your first main idea.
Explanation: Explain why this point is true.
Example: Give a real-life or hypothetical example.
Linking sentence: Connect back to the question.
Template:
βFirstly, [main idea]. This is because [explanation]. For example, [specific evidence]. Therefore, [link to essay question].β

3. Body Paragraph 2 (80β100 words)
Same structure as Paragraph 1, but with your second main idea.
Template:
βSecondly, [main idea]. The reason is that [explanation]. For instance, [example]. Thus, it can be seen that [link to essay question].β

4 . Conclusion (40β50 words)
Summarize main points (no new ideas).
Restate your opinion clearly.
Template:

Idiom of the day
Use of "Must have been"
The sentence "He must have been crying" expresses a logical deduction about the past.
It means:
π You are quite sure (based on evidence, like red eyes or tears) that he was crying sometime earlier.
Structure:
must + have + been + -ing verb = deduction about a continuous action in the past.

Example:
"She looks exhausted. She must have been working all night."
"His eyes are red. He must have been crying."
