Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir (TI) visited Laboratories and Facilities at the Mechanical Engineering Department, RCET, during his visit to the institute.
Dr. Salman Abbasi, Chairman of the Department, briefed him on the department’s laboratories, research facilities, and ongoing academic initiatives.
Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir appreciated the department's efforts and expressed his support for fostering innovation and practical learning. His visit was a source of great motivation for faculty and students alike.

As part of a team-building activity, the departmental faculty had lunch together at the conclusion of the Fall 2024 semester.

The meeting of all the Mechanical Engineering department faculty members was held on 2nd January 2025 on the eve of the new year. The Chairman, Dr. Muhammad Salman Abbasi expressed his best wishes for the new year and apprised the members on the achievement of various milestones by the department in the year 2024 such as:
1) The establishment of computer/cad lab with the support of departmental Alumni
2) The 3 years accreditation granted by the Pakistan Engineering Council under Level II for the second time in a row
3) The Launch of a New M.Sc. program in the department
The Chairman congratulated all the faculty and staff members for their continuous support and hard work in the achievement of these milestones and hope that the department will continue to make progress this year for the attainment of new milestones Insha’Allah.
The departmental faculty held discussions at length on various agenda items and decided the following matters:
1) Spring semester 2025 planning and implementation
2) Course allocation for undergraduate and post-graduate programs
3) Progress of Final year design projects
4) Various issues related to Outcome based education
The meeting ended with a note of thanks to and from the chair.

Chairman MED Dr. Muhammad Salman Abbasi delivered an interactive training module to the faculty of University of Narowal (UON) as a resource person from HEC for National outreach program (HEDP), Had an interesting discussion on teaching profession, passion, professional ethics, and importance of collaboration/fostering networks.
