The closing ceremony of a three-month Freelancing and Bookkeeping course was held recently in Astore district, marking the successful completion of an initiative aimed at empowering local youth with essential skills for financial independence, conducted by IPD-KIU with the sponsorship of AKRSP under its BRAVE project.

The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Professor Dr. Abdul Razaq, Deputy Commissioner Astore Mr. Muhamad Tariq, Dr. Aftab Khan, Fatimah Khan, Area Manager of the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP), and representatives of Local Support Organizations (LSOs).

During the ceremony, all speakers emphasized the importance of skill-based education in fostering economic growth and self-reliance in the region. They expressed their gratitude to AKRSP and its donor agencies for sponsoring the course and supporting the participants in acquiring valuable skills that align with current market demands.

The Freelancing and Bookkeeping course is part of a broader initiative to equip individuals with tools to thrive in today’s competitive environment, particularly by enabling them to tap into the growing opportunities in freelancing and financial management.

The event concluded with certificates distributed to the participants, recognizing their dedication and achievements during the program.

The graduation ceremony of 80 students from a 3-month freelancing training program was successfully held at Gahkuch. The training, part of the Building Resilience for Vulnerabilities in Emergencies (BRAVE) project, was funded under UK International Development and organized by the Institute of Professional Development (IPD), KIU, in collaboration with Concern Worldwide, AKRSP, and AKDN.

The event was graced by VC KIU Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah as Chief Guest. Senior officials, including Prof. Dr. Abdur Razaq, Dr. Aftab Khan, Dr. Shahab, and Mr. Muhammad Zaman (AKRSP Regional Manager), attended the ceremony.

In his address, VC KIU highlighted the growing importance of digital platforms and freelancing as critical tools to tackle unemployment in vulnerable communities. He reaffirmed KIU's commitment to supporting the youth of Gilgit-Baltistan with skill-building opportunities.

Certificates were awarded to successful trainees, encouraging them to pursue freelancing and entrepreneurship with dedication and hard work.
