Date of Submission: September 8, 2026To: The Vice-Chancellor, Karakoram International University (KIU), Gilgit
Through: The Registrar /Dean / Head of Department (School of Computing and Emerging Technologies)
From: Student Union (Submitted on behalf of all enrolled students in BS CS, SE, IT, AI, GIS and Data Science)
SUBJECT:URGENT CHARTER OF DEMANDS FOR RECTIFICATION OF NCEAC DEFICIENCIES AND CONDITIONAL RESTORATION OF ADMISSIONS
Respected Sir,
We, the enrolled students of the School of Computing and Emerging Technologies at KarakoramInternational University, respectfully submit this Charter of Demands. The current suspension and non-approval of our computing degrees by the National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC) are directly tied to severe academic and infrastructural shortfalls.
To secure the accreditation of our degrees and protect the academic future of Gilgit-Baltistan's youth, wepresent the following five non-negotiable demands. We request immediate administrative action to resolve these issues.
1. Immediate Recruitment of Permanent Faculty To meet the strict student-to-faculty ratios mandated by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and NCEAC, the university must immediately hire at least 17 new permanent faculty members (including PhD-qualified professors) across the Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, AI, GIS and Data Science domains.
2. Recruitment of Dedicated Lab EngineersComputing programs require intense practical and technical supervision. The administration must hireat least15 professional Lab Engineers. These engineers are essential to manage practical sessions, assist with Final Year Projects, and maintain the operational integrity of the department's digital infrastructure.
3. Provision of a Dedicated Internet Network Computing education is impossible without reliable connectivity. The administration must install and configure a separate, independent, high-speed internet connection dedicated exclusively to the School of Computing and Emerging Technologies, ensuring that academic research, machine learning training, and software development are not disrupted by campus-wide bandwidth bottlenecks.4. Comprehensive Upgradation of Computer Labs All existing computer laboratories must be immediately upgraded to meet NCEAC standards. This includes installing modern, high-performance computing hardware, necessary licensed software, and stable backup power to adequately support heavy computational workloads like Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
5. Conditional Restoration of New Admissions The youth of Gilgit-Baltistan deserve access to recognized, high-quality technology education. However, admitting new students into an under-resourced, unaccredited department is unjust. Therefore, new admissions for upcoming batches must remain strictly closed until Demands 1 through 4 are fully executed and verified. Only after the faculty is hired, labs are upgraded, and NCEAC clears the current deficiencies should the university reopen admissions for the Fall 2026intake and beyond.
CONCLUSION & DEADLINE
We request the University Administration to treat this Charter of Demands as a critical academic emergency. We expect a formal, written response detailing a realistic, time-bound ex*****on plan for these five points within two(2) workingdays. We look for ward to aprompt and documented resolution to secure the future of this department.
Yours obediently
