A one-week “Karakoram Climate Summer School (K-CSS)” will commence at Karakoram International University (KIU) from 3 August 2026.
According to the Public Relations Department of KIU, the summer school is being organized in collaboration with Community World Service Asia (CWSA) and KIU under the theme “Act for a Resilient Future.”
The primary objective of the summer school is to equip the youth of the high-mountain Karakoram region with practical knowledge and skills related to climate resilience, enabling them to play an active role in creating a secure and sustainable future for the region.
The week-long programme will feature expert talks, practical training sessions, field visits, collaborative activities among young people, and other initiatives focused on climate action.
International experts who will lead various sessions include Takeshi Komino from Japan, Mr. Rajendra Sharma from Nepal, and Md.Ashik Sardar from Bangladesh. Other international experts will also participate as speakers in different sessions.
The one-week K-CSS is being coordinated by Focal Persons Associate Professor Dr. Shaukat Ali of KIU and Program Coordinator Danish Batool, of CWSA. They are facilitating cooperation among partner organizations, experts, and participants.
