Major Russian drone, missile attack hits Ukraine’s Kyiv, causing casualties

Media reports and independent monitor describe the latest strikes on Ukraine as one of the heaviest since war began.
At least nine people have been reported injured as Russia launched a major drone and missile attack on the Ukrainian capital and the surrounding region.

An air raid alert was in place over the Kyiv region early on Sunday, with the local military administration saying Russia was attacking with drones and missiles.
Some Kyiv residents fled to metro stations deep underground for safety as the attack continued in the morning.

Many regions across the country were also under air raid alert, while neighbouring Poland closed airspace near two of its southeastern cities and its air force and allied forces scrambled jets in response.

In a statement posted on X, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said Russia had fired “hundreds of drones and missiles” overnight.

He said the strikes destroyed residential buildings and caused “civilian casualties”.

“We must maximise the cost of further escalation for Russia,” he said.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the Ukrainian capital was under a “massive” assault and urged people to stay in shelters.

یمن میں حملے کا نشانہ بننے والے بحری جہاز کے حوالے سے سفارتی ذرائع نے بتایا ہے کہ مذکورہ بحری جہاز ایرانی بندرگاہ بندر عباس سے یمن جا رہا تھا۔

سفارتی ذرائع کا کہنا ہے کہ بحری جہاز کے کپتان سمیت عملے کے 24 ارکان پاکستانی ہیں۔

سفارتی ذرائع نے بتایا ہے کہ واقعے میں کسی پاکستانی کے جاں بحق ہونے کی اطلاع نہیں ہے۔

سفارتی ذرائع کا یہ بھی کہنا ہے کہ پاکستان بحری جہاز میں موجود شہریوں کی بحفاظت واپسی کے لیے ہر ممکن کوشش کر رہا ہے۔

پاکستانی عملے نے ویڈیو پیغام میں بتایا ہے کہ یمنی پورٹ پر جہاز پر 10 دن پہلے ڈرون حملہ ہوا تھا۔ جہاز پر ایل پی جی موجود ہے جو یمنی پورٹ پر اتارا جانا تھا۔

جہاز کے کیپٹن نے مطالبہ کیا ہے جہاز کو فوری جیبوتی لے جانے کی اجازت دی جائے۔

جہاز کے پاکستانی عملے کا کہنا ہے کہ وزارتِ میری ٹائم اور ڈی جی پورٹس کی جانب سے پاکستانیوں کی مدد کا انتظار ہے، جہاز پر حوثی باغی موجود ہیں، پاکستانی عملے کو جہاز چھوڑنے نہیں دیا جا رہا۔

صنعا سے موصولہ اطلاع کے مطابق سعودی وفد بات چیت کےلیے یمن کے دارالحکومت صنعا میں ہے۔

یمنی سفارتکار کے مطابق سعودی وفد حوثی باغیوں سے ممکنہ جنگ بندی پر بات کرنے آیا ہے۔

خبر ایجنسی کے مطابق یمن اور سعودی عرب کے درمیان ثالثی کروانے والا عمانی وفد بھی صنعا میں ہے۔

خبر ایجنسی کا مزید کہنا ہے کہ سعودی حکام نے خبر پر ابھی کوئی تبصرہ نہیں کیا۔

Meanwhile, on the same day, left-wing activists mounted a protest against Turkey and Sweden’s bid to join NATO and expressed their support for the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which is outlawed in Turkey. The protesters, who carried PKK flags, rolled out a banner that stated: “We are all PKK.”
