Humans are causing life on Earth to vanish

Ecosystems, the fabric of life on which we all depend, are declining rapidly because of human actions. But there is still time to save them.

Human pressure on nature has soared since the 1970s. We have been using more and more natural resources, and this has come at a cost.

If we lose large portions of the natural world, human quality of life will be severely reduced and the lives of future generations will be threatened unless effective action is taken.

Over the last 50 years, nature's capacity to support us has plummeted. Air and water quality are reducing, soils are depleting, crops are short of pollinators, and coasts are less protected from storms.

CYTOPLASM
It is the translucent viscous fluid of cell lying in between plasma membrane and nucleus. It is consist of an aqueous ground substance called Cytosol and a granular portion called Cytoplasmic organelles and network of proteins fibers called cytoskeleton.
Major portion of cytoplasm is water (90%) with chemicals like proteins, sugar and nucleotides etc.
Functions of Cytoplasm:
✓ It serves as store house of vital chemicals.
✓ It is a site of metabolic reactions like protein synthesis, glycolysis etc.
✓ It also provides shape to cell through cytoskeleton.

Cell membrane is also called plasma membrane it surrounds nucleus and cytoplasm. It found in cells of all organisms in animal, plant even in bacteria. It is made up of phospholipids (bi layer) and protein. The most acceptable model is fluid mosaic model presented by Singer and Nicholson in 1972 according to it cell membrane is composed of lipids (phospholipids) in which protein molecules float like icebergs in Sea.
This basic structure found in all membranes of mitochondria, chloroplast etc therefore it is also called unit membrane. Cell membrane is semi- permeable membrane which allows only selective materials to pass through it. Cell membrane takes in particulate materials by the process of endocytosis.
