Understanding Geometrical Optics

This is a graphical representation of a Quadratic Function x² + 6x + 5. The graph shows that the roots are -5 , -1. The Axis of Symmetry lies at x = -3. The coordinates of Vertex are (-3 , -4). The vertex of a parabola that opens upwards is the lowest point on the graph as clearly indicated. The graph shows that Leading Coefficient (the coefficient of x²) is greater than 0 so parabola opens upwards. This graph is a Minimum Parabola ( parabola opening upwards)

FIELD LINES of a POSITIVE and NEGATIVE Charge

Experiment: A positive charge (Red) of magnitude 1 nC is taken first and field lines emerge out of this positive charge. A negative charge (Blue) of magnitude 1 nC is taken after that and field lines are directed towards the negative charge. In the last part, both the charges are taken simultaneously and field lines appear to be directed from positive charge (Red) towards the negative charge (Blue).
