Wondering why there are fireworks happening across UK today?

Every November 5th, UK celebrates Bonfire Night, also called Guy Fawkes’ Night. The holiday has its roots in a plot to blow up Parliament in 1605!!

Now you might be wondering, why would UK celebrate someone who almost blowed up the parliament?

This day does not celebrate Guy Fawkes. It actually celebrates his failure.

Infact the traditional celebration included burning him in effigy on a bonfire.

Nowadays, people celebrate with fireworks and bonfires and sometimes they even burn an effigy of Guy Fawkes on the bonfire!

So next time when you see fireworks light up in UK on November 5th, remember it is to commemorate Guy Fawkes’ Night!
