OPD Diagnosis and Managment

🍀*Hand foot mouth disease*🍀

🔸Caused by *entero viruses*
🔸begin as *fever , sore throat, myalgias , anorexia* .
🔸Blister appears in mouth forming a *sore ulcer*
🔸*Fluid filled blisters* appear on palm and soles

🔻*Highly contagious lesions- So isolate till blisters dry out* .

🍀🍀*Conservative management*:
💥Antipyretics- Ibuprofen
💥Throatstill spray for throat inflammation
💥Oral ulcer - somogel
💥blisters - Calamine lotion for soothing

🌟🌟*SCABIES* 🌟🌟

🔸caused by *Sarcoptis Scabi*
🔸Usually in people living in *shared places ( hostels, old care home ) or other family members with same disease*.

🌟*Clinical features*:
🔹Severe itching in wrist , finger webs , between toes , around ar**la , p***s
🔹Itching worse at night and warm bath
🔹Burrows can be seen on infected sites.
🔹It may be infected or crusted

🌟*Treatment* :
- 5% permithrin , crotamiton
- ⁠Antihistamines
- ⁠Topical / oral antibiotic in infected scabies
- ⁠Proper hygiene as its contagious disease
- ⁠Oral ivermectin in crusted / resistant scabies

🌟🌟Ivermectin 6 mg 🌟🌟

🍀*Brand name:* Ivermite , Scabimec , Ivermec

🍀Dosage: 200mcg/kg as a single dose
You can repeat after week

🍀Useful for norwegian or crusted scabies or no response to topical treatment.

🌟*Oral ulcers*🌟

🔹Maintain oral hygiene
🔹Avoid cigarette, Paan , ghutka
🔹Avoid spicy, Salty and oily foods

🔸🔸*If first episode*,
🔹Somogel on Affected area TDS or QID
🔹Cap Ruling 40mg OD for 7-10 days

- You can give a shot of Inj methycobal 1000mcg that will assist in healing

🔸🔸*if recurrent or multiple*:
🔹Daktarin / Somogel
🔹Tab metronidazole 400mg TDS for 3-5 days
🔹Cap Nexum 40mg OD before breakfast
🔹You can give a shot of Inj methycobal 1000mcg that will assist in healing
🟢look for underlying cause

Appearance in MDCAT made mandatory for admission to all allied health sciences programmes, including DPT, in UHS and affiliated institutions.
