About 6 years ago in July 2020, we started the journey of Agricultural Remote Sensing Lab (ARSL) under the National Center of GIS and Space Applications (NCGSA). We had 8 full time research staff members and 12 PhD/ MS positions. During this journey, many people got better opportunities using ARSL as a launching pad, and were replaced by the newcomers. At this stage, I feel proud to share that we have the club of 33 people including Alumini and current members. If we include the internees and FYP students in addition to these paid positions, the number reaches to 70 plus.
One of the key objectives of ARSL project was HR development, which was successfully achieved ALHAMDULILLAH. It is evident from the statistics that 9 of our alumini are availing PhD and Post-doc opportunities abroad in USA, China and UK. Similarly after building their profile in ARSL, many are serving in key organizations in the country including academic institutes, IWMI, Multan Development Authority, Punjab Agriculture Department, FFC and several other private organisations. Special thanks to HEC, NCGSA and UAF for supporting this initiative.
I wish best of luck to all Lab members, who are our pride and representatives in different parts of the world. Best wishes for Safdar on his farewell, as he is leaving for post-doc in China.
