The Department of Management Sciences is delighted to share that Ms. Arifa Ayab, a graduate of the BBA Program (Session 2020–2024) from Morder, Upper Chitral, has been selected as OG-III (Officer Grade-III) at the National Bank of Pakistan, Reshun Branch, Upper Chitral. Ms. Arifa was selected for this prestigious position after a competitive process that included a written test, group discussion, and interview. Her achievement is a testament to her dedication, perseverance, and hard work. On this occasion, Dr. Rizwan Ullah, Head of the Department, along with all faculty members, extends heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Arifa on this remarkable accomplishment and wishes her continued success in her professional career. SMEDA Conducts Training Workshop on SME Financing Products and Services in Chitral
The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) successfully organized a one-day training workshop on SME Financing Products and Services at Diwan Restaurant, Lower Chitral. The workshop brought together owners of local micro, small, and medium enterprises to enhance their understanding of business financing and financial decision-making. The resource person and master trainer for the session was Dr. Rizwan Ullah, Head of the Department of Management Sciences at the University of Chitral. Through an interactive and engaging discussion, Dr. Rizwan encouraged participants to think critically about their financing needs by posing practical questions such as: “When your business says it needs money, what does it actually need that money for?” and “If two loans offer the same amount, are they automatically equally suitable?” The session focused on helping entrepreneurs understand the purpose of financing, evaluate loan options, and make informed financial decisions to support sustainable business growth. Participants actively shared their experiences, raised questions, and contributed to meaningful discussions throughout the workshop. The workshop concluded successfully with a reflection session, where participants expressed their appreciation for the practical knowledge and insights gained during the training.

Successful Workshop on AI-Based Research Methods Held at University of Chitral
The Department of Management Sciences, in collaboration with the Department of Economics, successfully organized a workshop titled From Text to Insight: AI-Based Methods for Extracting Meaning from Real-World Data. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Adnan Muhammad Shah, Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Hamburg, Germany. The session focused on the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in academic research and practical data analysis. At the beginning of the workshop, Dr. Rizwan Ullah, Head of the Department of Management Sciences, warmly welcomed the resource person and introduced him to the participants. He appreciated the valuable contribution of international scholars in promoting research culture and advanced learning at the University of Chitral. During the workshop, Dr. Adnan Muhammad Shah explained how ChatGPT prompt engineering can be effectively used for designing research studies. He further demonstrated how Large Language Models (LLMs) and prompt engineering techniques can support researchers in research idea generation, formulation of research questions, theory development, hypothesis building, interview design, and data analysis. The workshop included practical demonstrations and real-time examples, where participants observed the use of AI tools with actual data. The interactive session enabled participants to better understand the application of AI in modern research practices. The workshop was attended by MPhil scholars and faculty members from different departments of the University. At the end of the session, participants actively engaged in a question-and-answer discussion, and the resource person responded to their queries in detail. In the closing remarks, Dr. Rizwan Ullah presented a vote of thanks to the resource person for his valuable time, commitment, and contribution toward strengthening research capacity at the University of Chitral.

The session was delivered by Dr. Wasim Abbas Awan, Associate Professor at Bahria Business School, Bahria University, Karachi, as the guest speaker. At the beginning, Dr. Rizwan Ullah, Head of the Department of Management Sciences, warmly welcomed the guest speaker and introduced him to the MPhil scholars. During the session, Dr. Awan explained that a research proposal is essentially based on argumentation and meaningful academic discussion. He discussed the purpose and importance of writing a strong research proposal and provided practical guidance on how to develop one effectively. He highlighted key elements such as reading extensive literature, seeking proper guidance, and actively asking for feedback throughout the research process. He also emphasized the importance of a solid literature review and the availability of relevant data in conducting quality research. The seminar concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, where students actively participated and benefited from the speaker’s valuable insights. At the end, the Head of the Department presented a vote of thanks to the guest speaker for delivering an informative and impactful session. The seminar proved highly beneficial, equipping MPhil students with essential skills and guidance for developing strong, effective research proposals.
