2-days workshop on International Humanitarian Law which took place on 9th and 10th February 2023, was organized by ICRC in collaboration with Department of Law at University of Malakand.
The guest speakers Mr.Hassan Khalil, Mr.Qaiser Shah and Mr.Muhammad Imran Legal Advisor to ICRC graced the event. The event was also attended by the students of Law Department, UOM

The participants were very privileged to have two consultants of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to disseminate information on International Humanitarian Law – Mr.Hassan Khalil, Mr.Qaiser Shah. Both of them have tremendous experience and knowledge in the International Humanitarian Law.

Mr.Hassan Khalil and Mr.Qaiser Shah enlightened the participants with some introductions to ICRC and IHL. They also linked to some international laws like The Law of Geneva and The Law of Hague which form the present- day humanitarian law. He also presented the conduct of hostilities which saw how the key principles of IHL – distinction, proportionality and precautions, are exercised and implemented in times of conflict.

The workshop ended with a closing ceremony whereby the crowd witnessed the presentation of certificates to the participants and presentation of souvenir to the Mr.Kamran Khan on behalf of Law Department, UOM.

Congratulations to the team from law department "malakand Astros", consisting of Mr. Sohail arhan ( Counsel) , Mr.mohsin ihsan (co counsil ) and Abbas khan ( researcher). It is a tremendous achievement to not only reach Round of 6th, but to also Stood 4th in 2nd Bahria National Moot Court Competition held at Bahria University. The team also won Best Researcher Award (abbas khan).
