After teaching globally, I find similar challenges amongst kids: lack of understanding the fundamentals and how to use them in questions involving two or more steps. I am now more convinced that early years are way more important than most parents really think so and simple topics taught in grade 1 onwards become overwhelming for children once they are asked to apply them in later grades.
I always ask children to consider the below and think analytically:
Are numbers only about knowing them or understanding them, how different topics like fractions, ratios and decimals are connected, how factors are linked to multiples and much more!
The experience is guiding me on how to improve and develop more in-depth, targeted workbooks at PRO EM so children with varying levels of understanding in any Math topic can benefit and improve with confidence.
