What Is SEO in Digital Marketing?
Let’s start with the most common question- what is search engine optimization?

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a process of optimizing a website to improve its visibility, drive organic traffic, and boost its search result ranking. SEO includes a set of practices that aim to improve the positioning, appearance, and usefulness of different types of content, such as images, videos, web content, local business listings, etc.

SEO is about fulfilling users’ search needs by answering their queries through relevant, high-quality content and excellent user experience. As organic search is the best way to let people discover and access websites and businesses, SEO ensures that the content we publish on any platform can be found easily by users. It boosts search ranking, which translates to higher organic traffic.

SEO aligns the content and technical aspects of a website with search engine algorithm requirements. It can take place either on-page or off-page. Common practices included in SEO are content and website optimization, keyword research, creating backlinks, etc.

We can conclude that search engine optimization for marketing is the process of improving a website’s ranking in the organic section of search engine results.

Old SEO vs. New SEO

No #1: Site Appearance

• Old SEO: I don’t mind how my site looks as long as I’m getting that traffic.

• New SEO: I focus on a holistic UX and make sure my site is mobile-friendly, has fast load times, and provides genuinely valuable content.

No #2: Content Relevance

• Old SEO: As long as the keyword is in my niche, I create an article for it, even though I know the user is looking for something else.

• New SEO: I consider the intent behind every search query. If I can’t satisfy search intent, I don’t create the content.

No #3: Article Uniqueness

• Old SEO: I summarize the top 3 ranking articles and that becomes my post.

• New SEO: Every article is unique. I always bring something new to the table: new perspectives, fresh data, and my own experiences.

No #4: Information Placement

• Old SEO: I write long intros and basic facts to hit my word count and provide the good stuff only at the bottom of the post.

• New SEO: In every article, I frontload critical information to make sure my readers get what they came for as quickly as humanly possible.

No #5: Content Variety

• Old SEO: I create and publish only text-based content.

• New SEO: I create many different content types and embed them into my articles: videos, infographics, tools, calculators, quizzes.

No #6: Keyword Strategy

• Old SEO: I try to squeeze in my main keyword.

• New SEO: I focus on semantic search and entity-based SEO. I let tools like SurferSEO and Frase help me with that.

No #7: SERP Focus

• Old SEO: I only focus on ranking in the traditional list of search results.

• New SEO: I also target a variety of SERP features like featured snippets, local packs, and knowledge graphs.

No #8: Link-Building Strategy

• Old SEO: Paid guest posts are my primary link-building strategy.

• New SEO: My backlink acquisition is diversified. I use digital PR, organic guest posts, natural link inserts, HARO, and scalable link-building.

No #9: Link-Building Effort

• Old SEO: Link-building is always a manual effort. For every link, I have to put in work in a 1:1 ratio.

• New SEO: I create content that attracts links naturally and on autopilot. I build free tools and statistical posts.

No #10: Backlink Quality

• Old SEO: The more backlinks, the better. There is no such thing as a bad link.

• New SEO: I only acquire backlinks from high-authority and relevant websites. Quality over quantity. Always.

No #11: Content Optimization

• Old SEO: I only create new content. Google loves that.

• New SEO: I monitor my existing content and optimize pages regularly to get them accurate.

How to Index Images on Google?

Indexing images on Google helps them show up in search results. Here’s how to do it simply:

1. Use Descriptive File Names:

Instead of naming your image "IMG123.jpg," use a name that describes the picture, like "cute-puppy.jpg." This helps Google understand what the image is about.

2. Add Alt Text:

Alt text is a short description of the image that helps people who can’t see it. For example, if you have a picture of a dog, you might write: "A small brown puppy playing in the grass." This also helps Google index the image better.

3. Create an Image Sitemap:

If you have a lot of images on your website, consider creating a sitemap specifically for images. This is a special file that tells Google where to find all your images.

4. Use Image Tags:

When you add images to your website, use proper HTML tags. The tag is essential, and including the "src" (source) and "alt" (alternative text) attributes will help Google understand your images better.

5. Optimize Image Size:

Large images can slow down your website. Make sure to compress images so they load quickly without losing quality. Fast-loading images can improve your website's chances of being indexed well.

6. Share on Social Media:

Posting your images on social media platforms can also help them get noticed by Google. The more people see and share your images, the better!

7. Check Google Search Console:

Use this tool to see how your images are performing in search results. You can find out if Google has indexed them correctly.

By following these steps, you can help Google find and index your images more effectively!

What Is the Future of SEO in 2024? Critical SEO Trend to Know:

The future of SEO is trending towards a more user-centric, ethical, and technically advanced approach.
Why?

The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning in search engines enables them to comprehend user intent better and deliver more relevant results

Google prioritizes Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness (E-E-A-T), advocating for ethical, high-quality content production

AI (like ChatGPT) is shaping SEO to be more conversational

Understanding these trends can help you rank higher, generate more traffic, and connect with more potential customers.

Google Search Generative Experience (SGE)

What to Know

Search Generative Experience (SGE) is Google’s AI-powered search experience.
Google SGE provides an AI-generated result to many search queries, which appears at the top of the search engine results pages (SERPs).
As it becomes more ubiquitous, it will likely change how users interact with the search engine. And it will also change how sites are optimized to generate impressions and traffic.

SGE enhances user interactions by delivering clear, concise answers to the user’s search query. It also provides relevant visuals and a conversational engagement model.

To be clear—it’s not a chatbot like ChatGPT.

Instead, when you perform a search on Google, an AI-powered result appears.

The snapshot includes relevant links to some of the underlying sources and additional prompts to further explore the topic.

Picture Google evolving into a more conversational assistant, understanding and responding to your queries in a more human-like manner.

That's SGE.

Currently, Google’s AI snapshot is available to a limited number of people in the U.S and in English only. If you’re in the U.S., you can try enabling it while browsing.

This trend signifies a shift towards a more interactive, user-friendly search experience where the algorithm understands and anticipates user needs and intent.

It’s not just a fancy idea. Businesses invest heavily in this tech.

In fact, the artificial intelligence market, which powers experiences like SGE, is valued at nearly 100 billion U.S. dollars and is expected to skyrocket to almost two trillion U.S. dollars by 2030.
