Hearing and Speech Center - HSC, ''Managed by Al-Hoda Association" Hearing and Speech Center(HSC) was founded in May 1999 as a project of "Al Hoda Association” by Swiss/Pakistani parents of a profoundly deaf child.
The " Hearing & Speech Centre, Abbottabad (HSC) and Al Hoda School Halli (ASH)” was founded in May 1999 as a project of "Al Hoda Association” by Swiss/Pakistani parents of a profoundly deaf child after experienced the wonderful results of cochlear implant with their son in Switzerland. Founders decided to create a foundation for the promotion of hearing impaired children living in the District of Abbottabad in the Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa (formerly NWFP) of Pakistan
One year after Al Hoda was founded in 1999, Prof. Armin Loewe (Heidelberg University of Education, Germany) visited our centre in March/April at Abbottabad for one month and trained our local teachers to educate children by using modern technologies in speech therapy. Holding over 50 years of experience with the hearing impaired, Loewe designed the centres strategy under his own supervision.
Previously, he has arranged many such projects for third world countries and has written over 25 books on the subject. His achievements include a large project in Bangladesh, which has been running since 1990, It was designed by his “National Centre of Hearing and Speech for Children” at Dhaka. Loewes strategy for Al Hoda was designed in accordance with our regional needs after carefully monitoring the existing education in these rural areas of Pakistan.
