لَمَّا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ آدَمَ وَنَفَخَ فِيهِ الرُّوحَ عَطَسَ، فَقَالَ: الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ، فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ...

“When Allah created Adam and breathed the soul into him, he sneezed and said, ‘Alhamdulillah.’ So he praised Allah by Allah's permission…”
The narration then describes Adam عليه السلام greeting the angels and the beginning of his descendants.

فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: وَجَبَتْ.
فَسَأَلْتُهُ: مَاذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ: الْجَنَّةُ.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “It has become obligatory.” I asked, “What, O Messenger of Allah?” He said, “Paradise.”
This occurred after the Prophet ﷺ heard a man reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas (Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad).

تَعْبُدُ اللَّهَ وَلَا تُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا، وَتُقِيمُ الصَّلَاةَ، وَتُؤْتِي الزَّكَاةَ، وَتَصُومُ شَهْرَ رَمَضَانَ، وَتَحُجُّ الْبَيْتَ وَتَعْتَمِرُ، وَتَسْمَعُ وَتُطِيعُ.

“You worship Allah and do not associate anything with Him; you establish prayer; you give Zakah; you fast the month of Ramadan; you perform Hajj to the House and perform Umrah; and you listen and obey.”

وَيْلٌ لِلَّذِي يُحَدِّثُ فَيَكْذِبُ وَيَضْحَكُ بِهِ الْقَوْمُ، وَيْلٌ لَهُ، وَيْلٌ لَهُ.

“Woe to the person who speaks and lies in order to make people laugh. Woe to him! Woe to him!”

حَافِظْ عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ الْخَمْسِ، فَقُلْتُ: هَذِهِ سَاعَاتٌ لِي فِيهَا اشْتِغَالٌ، فَحَدِّثْنِي بِأَمْرٍ جَامِعٍ إِذَا أَنَا فَعَلْتُهُ أَجْزَأَ عَنِّي، قَالَ: حَافِظْ عَلَى الْعَصْرَيْنِ، قَالَ: وَمَا كَانَتْ مِنْ لُغَتِنَا قُلْتُ: وَمَا الْعَصْرَانِ؟ قَالَ: صَلَاةٌ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ، وَصَلَاةٌ قَبْلَ غُرُوبِهَا.

“Guard the five daily prayers.” I said, “These are times when I am occupied, so tell me something comprehensive which, if I do it, will be sufficient for me.” He said, “Guard the two prayers.” I asked, “What are the two prayers?” He said, “A prayer before sunrise and a prayer before sunset.”

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ:
إِيَّاكُمْ وَالظَّنَّ، فَإِنَّ الظَّنَّ أَكْذَبُ الْحَدِيثِ، وَلَا تَحَسَّسُوا، وَلَا تَجَسَّسُوا، وَلَا تَنَافَسُوا، وَلَا تَحَاسَدُوا، وَلَا تَبَاغَضُوا، وَلَا تَدَابَرُوا، وَكُونُوا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ إِخْوَانًا.

“Avoid suspicion, for suspicion is the most false form of speech. Do not spy on one another, do not investigate one another, do not compete with one another, do not envy one another, do not hate one another, and do not turn away from one another. Rather, be servants of Allah and brothers.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 6064; Sahih Muslim 2563.

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ:
مَا نَقَصَتْ صَدَقَةٌ مِنْ مَالٍ، وَمَا زَادَ اللَّهُ عَبْدًا بِعَفْوٍ إِلَّا عِزًّا، وَمَا تَوَاضَعَ أَحَدٌ لِلَّهِ إِلَّا رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ.

“Charity does not decrease wealth. Allah does not increase a servant in forgiveness except in honor, and no one humbles himself for the sake of Allah except that Allah raises him.”

Sahih Muslim 2588.

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ:
الْمُؤْمِنُ الْقَوِيُّ خَيْرٌ وَأَحَبُّ إِلَى اللَّهِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِ الضَّعِيفِ، وَفِي كُلٍّ خَيْرٌ. احْرِصْ عَلَى مَا يَنْفَعُكَ، وَاسْتَعِنْ بِاللَّهِ، وَلَا تَعْجَزْ، وَإِنْ أَصَابَكَ شَيْءٌ، فَلَا تَقُلْ: لَوْ أَنِّي فَعَلْتُ كَانَ كَذَا وَكَذَا، وَلَكِنْ قُلْ: قَدَرُ اللَّهِ وَمَا شَاءَ فَعَلَ، فَإِنَّ لَوْ تَفْتَحُ عَمَلَ الشَّيْطَانِ
“The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, although there is good in both. Strive for what benefits you, seek help from Allah, and do not give up. If something happens to you, do not say, ‘If only I had done such and such, it would have been such and such.’ Rather say, ‘Allah has decreed, and whatever He wills, He does,’ because saying ‘if only’ opens the door to the work of Satan.”

Sahih Muslim 2664.

عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ:
أَنَا وَكَافِلُ الْيَتِيمِ فِي الْجَنَّةِ هَكَذَا.
وَأَشَارَ بِالسَّبَّابَةِ وَالْوُسْطَى، وَفَرَّجَ بَيْنَهُمَا شَيْئًا.

“I and the one who cares for an orphan will be like this in Paradise.” And he ﷺ pointed with his index and middle fingers, holding them slightly apart.

Sahih al-Bukhari 5304.

عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ لِيَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ:
لَا تَحْقِرَنَّ مِنَ الْمَعْرُوفِ شَيْئًا، وَلَوْ أَنْ تَلْقَى أَخَاكَ بِوَجْهٍ طَلْقٍ.

“Do not consider any good deed insignificant, even if it is simply meeting your brother with a cheerful face.”

Sahih Muslim 2626.
