‎🕝 Date: The tentative implementation date is on June 21, Sunday. In case there are changes, the seminar will still be rescheduled on weekends, Sunday.

‎📢 The online registration form will be posted tomorrow at 1:00 PM. We are prioritizing registered voters aged 15–30 years old; however, all interested youth participants are welcome to join.
‎
‎We also encourage members of Indigenous Peoples (IP) communities and other sectors to participate in this meaningful learning opportunity.

‎POLS1YE recognizes transparency, accountability, and institutional legitimacy as indispensable pillars of democratic governance. These principles are not merely administrative ideals but fundamental requirements for maintaining public trust and ensuring that institutions remain responsive to the communities they serve.

‎In light of the recent concerns involving the Western Mindanao State University - University Student Council (WMSU USC) and the reported ₱70,000 fund issue, we acknowledge the statement released by the USC clarifying that the matter arose from an internal security measure rather than actual fund mismanagement. While this clarification addresses certain aspects of the issue, the events surrounding the controversy have nevertheless generated legitimate concerns among students and stakeholders regarding transparency, communication, and institutional accountability.

‎Public institutions derive their authority and legitimacy not solely from elections or formal mandates, but from the confidence and trust placed in them by their constituents. In democratic governance, trust is a vital political resource that must be cultivated through openness, consistency, and responsible stewardship of public resources. When concerns arise involving public funds, transparency becomes not only an ethical obligation but also a democratic necessity.

‎As students of political science and advocates of good governance, we emphasize that accountability mechanisms exist not to undermine institutions but to strengthen them. The release of relevant financial reports, supporting documents, and transparency measures can help address public concerns, prevent misinformation, and reinforce confidence in student governance institutions. Transparency should not be viewed as a reaction to controversy but as a proactive commitment to responsible leadership.

‎Furthermore, we underscore the importance of effective checks and balances within democratic institutions. Independent oversight, legislative scrutiny, and institutional safeguards serve essential functions in preventing the concentration of power, promoting responsible decision-making, and ensuring that public officials remain accountable to those they represent. These mechanisms are not signs of institutional weakness; rather, they are indicators of a healthy and functioning democratic system.

‎We likewise encourage all parties involved to approach this matter with prudence, objectivity, and a commitment to factual evidence. Public discourse should be guided by verified information, respect for due process, and a collective desire to uphold the integrity of student governance. Constructive criticism and institutional accountability are not threats to democracy but essential components of it.
‎
‎As members of the academic and political community, we believe that this situation presents an opportunity to reaffirm the values of transparency, accountability, and democratic governance. Through open communication, institutional responsibility, and adherence to established accountability measures, confidence in student representation can be preserved and strengthened.

‎POLS1YE remains committed to promoting democratic principles, encouraging informed civic engagement, and advocating for governance practices that uphold the trust and welfare of the student body. We call upon the WMSU USC to continue fostering transparency, accountability, and openness in addressing public concerns, in accordance with the democratic values that serve as the foundation of effective and legitimate governance.

‎On behalf of 𝐏𝐎𝐋𝐒𝟏𝐘𝐄, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to SK Chairperson Jovit Ibanez and the entire SK Mampang Council for their invaluable support and cooperation in making this initiative a success.

‎Through this seminar, community members were equipped with essential knowledge on responsible and informed voting, further strengthening civic awareness and democratic participation.

‎Speaker Zeeyadh Jadjuli underscored the value of critical thinking in an era of political fanaticism. He reminded participants that truth does not change simply because it is uncomfortable or contrary to our beliefs, and that our foremost loyalty should always be to our nation and fellow citizens.

I honestly don't think I would've survived my first year of college without you, Aly. You made long class breaks, exhausting days, and all the chaos of first year much more bearable. Even with all the questionable things I do, you've always been there—my kakampi in everything.
