To our dear parents and guardians of Ateneo de Zamboanga University Junior High School:

In light of the recent incident and the suspension of classes, we humbly ask for your continued support in safeguarding the well-being of our students. Your presence and guidance at home are especially important during this time.

With students spending more time at home and online, they may be exposed to content that glorifies violence or promotes other harmful behaviors. Those who may already be experiencing personal, emotional, or social concerns can be particularly vulnerable to the effects of prolonged or unsupervised online exposure.

We therefore encourage parents and guardians to remain attentive to significant changes in their children's behavior, emotions, relationships, and online activities. Take time to check in with them, listen without judgment, and create a safe space where they feel comfortable sharing what they are experiencing.

At the same time, we hope that this suspension of classes can be an opportunity for our students and their families to practice the 3Rs: REST, RECOVER, and RECONNECT.

𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗧 — Give your child time to pause, recharge, and step away from the pressures of school and the online world.

𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥 — Allow time and space to process recent events, regulate emotions, and regain a sense of safety and stability.

𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗖𝗧 — Spend meaningful time together. Talk, eat meals together, engage in simple activities, or simply be present and willing to listen.

Your presence, guidance, and support can go a long way in helping our students feel safe, heard, and cared for. Let us continue to work together as a community to protect our students, strengthen our families, and help one another through this time.

Let this pause be a time to REST, RECOVER, and RECONNECT.

LAUNCHING OUR FIRST-EVER ARRUPE COMMUNITY PANTRY!

As our students gear up for their First Quarter Examinations this week, we recognize that early-morning travel, late-night studying, and exam stress can easily lead to skipped breakfasts. Guided by the Ignatian spirit of cura personalis—care for the whole person—and Fr. Pedro Arrupe’s call to be "men and women for others" we want to make sure no student takes their exams on an empty stomach.

For the very first time, the Arrupe Office is leading this initiative together with the Campus Ministry Office, Infirmary, and Home-School Relations Office (HSRO) to bring you the Arrupe Community Pantry. This endeavor aims to offer physical nourishment, comfort, and encouragement right as students step onto campus, helping everyone start their exam days with energy, confidence, and a warm heart.

📅 Dates: August 12, 13, and 14, 2026
⏰ Time: 6:30 AM – 7:30 AM
📍 Location: JHS Lobby, Fronting the Chapel of the First Companions
🍞☕ Menu: Fresh Pandesal & Warm Milo and Milk (served in paper cups)

IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR STUDENTS:
- Lobby Consumption Only: To keep our classrooms clean, all food and drinks must be consumed in the lobby area before heading to exam rooms.
- Proper Waste Disposal: Designated garbage bags are placed throughout the lobby. Please dispose of your used paper cups and wrappers properly.
- Health & Dietary Notice: Hot Milo and Milk contain dairy/milk products and gluten. Students with lactose intolerance or milk/cocoa allergies are advised to enjoy pandesal only.

Ignatian Month & Nutrition Month Outreach Activity | August 1, 2026

Last August 1, our Ateneans gathered in Kreutz Campus for an outreach activity that brought together the spirit of service, community, and care.
Through catechism, sharing of goody bags and snacks, and meaningful interactions with the children, our students experienced that service can be simple yet deeply meaningful. It was a beautiful reminder that our Ignatian mission calls us to be people for and with others, while also recognizing the importance of caring for the well-being of our community.

This activity would not have been possible without the support and participation of our YCLC, Red Cross Youth, JESC, Culinaria Atenista, Eagle’s Eye, Grade 8 – St. Ignatius of Loyola, Arrupe, and PPO, together with our AOCSA and GPTA of Grade 8 - Loyola

Thank you to everyone who shared their time, resources, and talents to make this experience meaningful for the children of Barangay Tumaga.

Culminating Program | Ignatian Month 2026 💙

Last July 29, 2026, the subject area of CLE culminated this year’s month-long celebration of Ignatian Month, with the theme “One Ignatian Heart, One Mission of Service.”

Throughout the celebration, our different activities gave us opportunities to learn more about the life, journey, and spirituality of St. Ignatius of Loyola. From the competitions and creative activities to our reflections and moments of community, we were reminded that Ignatian spirituality is not simply something we learn about, it is something we are called to live.

We were reminded to slow down, reflect, find God in all things, and recognize that our journey is not a competition with others. Like St. Ignatius, we are invited to continually discern where God is calling us and to use our gifts in the service of others.

As we close this year's celebration, may the lessons, memories, and experiences we shared continue beyond July. May we carry with us an Ignatian heart, a heart willing to serve, accompany, and bring others closer to God.

Today, we joyfully celebrate the Feast Day of St. Ignatius of Loyola—soldier, pilgrim, founder of the Society of Jesus, and the saint whose life reminds us that every experience can lead us closer to God.
May we continue to be women and men for and with others guided by faith, formed in excellence, and inspired to live lives of compassion, justice, and generous service.

On this special day, let us renew our commitment to our mission and live out the words that have become the heart of Ignatian spirituality: "En todo amar y servir." 🤝🏻
