𝗔𝗜 𝗨𝗦𝗘 𝗜𝗡 𝗕𝗔𝗦𝗜𝗖 𝗘𝗗𝗨𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡🤖

The Department of Education has issued DepEd Order No. 003, s. 2026, titled Foundational Guidelines on Artificial Intelligence in Basic Education.

This is an important education update, especially now that AI tools are becoming more common in schoolwork. With this order, DepEd now provides official guidance on how AI should be used in basic education.

Under the policy, AI may be used as a support tool for teaching and learning. It can help learners organize ideas, improve drafts, check grammar, understand lessons, and support research-related tasks.

However, the order also makes it clear that AI should not replace the learning process. Learners are still expected to understand their work, follow academic instructions, and use AI responsibly.

This means that using AI does not automatically make an output acceptable. In some cases, learners may still be asked to explain how AI was used.

The guidelines also emphasize human oversight, transparency, privacy, safety, and accountability. DepEd also restricts high-risk AI uses that may affect learners’ rights, safety, and well-being.

AI can be part of learning, but it should not take over the learner’s own effort and understanding.
