CONNECTIVITY ACTIVATED | The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) officially launched the Mindanao Integrated Government Network (GovNet) Phase 1 under it's National Broadband Program today, June 19, 2026, in Cagayan de Oro City.

The Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-9 stands as a proud agency beneficiary of this digital milestone. This upgraded, reliable internet connectivity greatly strengthens PIA-9's day-to-day operations, enabling the faster and more efficient delivery of timely government information to the people of Western Mindanao.

PIA 9 Officer-in-Charge Jocelyn P. Alvarez expressed her gratitude to the President and DICT Secretary Henry Rhoel Aguda during a live virtual Info "Kamustahan," highlighting how the program directly empowers public service in the region.

AVISO PUBLICO| Mayor Khymer Olaso has ordered the SUSPENSION OF CLASSES at all levels, including WORK in both local and national agencies in Zamboanga City today, June 8, following the earthquake that hit the city earlier today.

Nonetheless, offices providing essential and frontline services MUST CONTINUE normal, uninterrupted operations to serve the public.

Mayor Olaso has advised authorities to inspect the structural integrity of all buildings – schools, offices and other structures, and to protect students from aftershocks.

BDRRMCs in the different barangays are tasked to coordinate with the school authorities, traffic enforcers and other authorities for the safety of teachers and students on their way home.

The DOST- PHIVOLCS has issued a Tsunami Warning strongly advising people in Sarangani, Davao Occidental, Tawi-tawi, Sulu, Basilan, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Sultan Kudarat, and South Cotabato to IMMEDIATELY EVACUATE to higher grounds or move farther inland.

It is forecast that the first tsunami waves will arrive between 7:37am, 8June 2026 to 9:37am, 8June 2026. These waves may continue for hours.

Based on preliminary earthquake parameters, the location of the earthquake was offshore Sarangani with a depth of 10 kilomers and magnitude 7.0.

The successful kick-off marked the beginning of a collective effort among teachers, parents, stakeholders, volunteers, and community partners in preparing our school for the opening of classes. Through the spirit of bayanihan, we continue to strengthen our commitment to providing a clean, safe, and learner-friendly environment for every Sta. Barbara Central School pupil.
