Vira ES Steps Up Earthquake Preparedness in School-Wide Drill
A warning signal rang out, learners quickly took cover, and rescue teams moved into action as Vira Elementary School conducted a Provincial School-Wide Earthquake Drill on July 30, 2026.
The activity strengthened the schoolβs disaster preparedness and tested the readiness of learners, personnel, and community responders during a simulated earthquake emergency.
The drill was conducted in compliance with Executive Order No. CAM 014-26, s. 2026, issued by the Office of the Governor of Ilocos Norte.
School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Coordinator Mrs. Loralaine Parham led the post-drill evaluation, identifying areas for improvement and recommending measures to make future emergency responses safer and more efficient.
Barangay Kagawad Nelson Salvador and other barangay officials also participated in the activity. They were joined by Sangguniang Kabataan officials headed by Mr. Reymar Barroga, Barangay Health Workers, and the Barangay Nutrition Scholar in carrying out the simulated rescue operation.
Through the collaborative exercise, Vira Elementary School reinforced the importance of preparedness, coordination, and community involvement in protecting learners and school personnel during disasters.
