The Metrobank MTAP Dep-Ed Math Challenge, under the sponsorship of Metrobank Foundation, together with the Department of Education, is an annual and one of the most anticipated Mathematics Contest in the Philippines. This contest aims to develop the Mathematics education in the Philippines and to gain interest in Math among Elementary and High School students. The MTAP Contest is comprised of different Rounds of Eliminations usually held from January – February in different cities and provinces throughout the country. From District Level, it will go on to Division Level, Sectoral Level and the Regional Level. For Grade 6 and 4th Year, National Finals are usually held. Usually, schools who are participating (including SLCV) in the MTAP contest have long-time preparations for this contest.
Last February 16 and 17, 2012, St. Louis College Valenzuela, on its 34th Foundation Anniversary, hosted this prestigious event, where excellent students from different private schools around Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela cities show their exemplary Mathematics skills. Coaches, teachers and parents also graced the two-day event. The students went on to different rounds of questions ranging from the easiest to the most difficult ones. In the end, winning teams are recognized during the awarding ceremonies. Certificates and medals were also distributed to the winners, and these winners show them all what they got, with pride and honor.
