𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | The Immaculate Conception Cathedral School, Inc. (ICCS) was among the 24 participating schools across the Diocese of Cubao that gathered to celebrate the Diocesan Mass of the Holy Spirit at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral of Cubao, September 18.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by His Excellency, Most Rev. Elias L. Ayuban, Jr., CMF, D.D., Bishop of Cubao.
Concelebrating with him were Rev. Fr. Raymond Joseph L. Arre, School Director and DOCES Superintendent; Rev. Fr. Gerald M. Moscardon, DOCES Deputy Superintendent; DOCES Chaplains Rev. Fr. Edrylle C. Dayrit, Rev. Fr. Victor Angelo S. Parlan, Rev. Fr. Fred Cristian F. Narvasa, and Rev. Fr. Gilberto Fortunato II C. Dumlao; Diocese of Cubao Chancellor Fr. Julius Callanga; Rev. Fr. Mamert Mañus, SJ; Rev. Fr. Evare Laborte; Rev. Fr. Victor Sadaya, CMF, School Director of Claret School of Quezon City; Fr. Julius Coching, CMF; Rev. Fr. Jun Pascual; and Rev. Fr. Marvin Pajarillaga.
The Eucharistic celebration began with the Flag Bearing of the participating schools and universities, representing the 23 Catholic educational institutions united under the Diocese of Cubao in prayer and thanksgiving.
Following the Liturgy of the Word proclaimed by Fr. Dumlao, Bishop Ayuban delivered his homily.
In his homily, Bishop Ayuban emphasized that the gathering reflects how everyone belongs to a bigger family of God, coming together in the Mother Church, the Cathedral of the Diocese of Cubao, under the care and guidance of the Blessed Virgin Mary. He welcomed the students to the house of their Mother and reminded them of their shared identity as sons and daughters of God.
Reflecting on the day’s Gospel, Bishop Ayuban highlighted how Jesus rejoices in the Holy Spirit and gives praise to the Father. He explained that Jesus rejoices because God reveals His mysteries to the “little ones”, those who are humble in heart. He reminded the students that one may be small yet proud, or great yet humble, emphasizing that true humility comes through the Spirit.
Bishop Ayuban encouraged the students to continue growing in humility and to remember that they are sons and daughters called to learn from the Father under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. He invited them to see the world through the lens of Jesus and to recognize the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding, knowledge, counsel, fortitude, piety, and fear of the Lord.
He further encouraged the students to share these gifts with others throughout the school year and beyond, reminding them that, young as they are, they are already entrusted with a mission. He invited them to pray for the grace to change the way they see and understand the world.
As one family with one common Father, Bishop Ayuban reminded everyone that their family is much bigger than what may appear. In the celebration, he encouraged the faithful to ask the Holy Spirit not only for the seven gifts but also for three particular graces: a humble heart to remain always little before God; enlightened eyes to recognize God’s presence, especially when His presence seems hidden; and a joyful heart that willingly shares with others what has been received from God.
Following the homily, Dr. Ferdinand G. Garcia, SNPS School Principal, led the Profession of Faith of the chaplains and administrators.
The celebration continued with the Words of Acknowledgement delivered by Fr. Arre, who expressed his gratitude to all the schools and universities that participated in the Diocesan Mass of the Holy Spirit. He also acknowledged the servers, ICCS Knights of the Altar, choir from SJCS, ushers, media and documentation team, registration committee, and Rev. Fr. Steven C. Zabala, Rector and Parish Priest of the Cathedral, together with his staff, for accommodating the celebration at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral of Cubao.
Fr. Arre also highlighted the seven candles placed on the altar, signifying the presence of the Bishop as the presider of the celebration and representing the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit. He emphasized that the gathering of Catholic schools across the Diocese of Cubao reflects their unity in faith, together with their spiritual father, Bishop Ayuban, whose guidance and inspiration continue to accompany the Catholic education community.
In concluding his message, Fr. Arre addressed the realities and challenges faced by educators and administrators in the Catholic education ministry today, acknowledging how much the world and educational landscape have changed, bringing new and complex challenges for both students and educators. He recalled the Holy Father’s reminder in his first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, which addresses the challenges posed by artificial intelligence and emphasizes the importance and dignity of the human person.
In the context of Catholic schools, he stressed that students must remain at the heart of educators’ care and concern. As the Catholic education community faces these challenges, Fr. Arre reminded everyone that they are part of the Catholic education ministry and, under the guidance of Bishop Ayuban, are called to remain united in their mission and together draw new maps of hope for the future.
Bishop Ayuban then officially declared the opening of School Year 2026-2027.
