The South East Asian Institute of Technology Supreme Student Council (SEAIT-SSC) officially ratified its new Constitution and By-Laws (CBL) after securing the required majority vote from the student population, establishing a new governing framework for the student body.
Out of the institution's 16,344 students, 8,251 participated in the school-wide ratification process. In accordance with the council's ratification requirements, approval required at least 50 percent plus one (50% + 1) of the eligible voting population, equivalent to a minimum of 8,173 votes. The proposed Constitution and By-Laws received 8,199 votes in favor and 52 votes against, surpassing the required threshold for ratification.
According to Memorandum Circular No. 38, Series of 2026, issued by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the proposed Constitution and By-Laws are therefore considered duly ratified and adopted following the attainment of the required majority. The memorandum further stated that the adoption was carried out in accordance with the established rules and procedures governing the ratification process.
The revised Constitution and By-Laws were crafted through the Constitutional Convention (Con-Con), composed of student leaders representing various colleges and student organizations, before being presented to the student body for ratification.
With the ratification, the revised Constitution and By-Laws will serve as the governing document of the SEAIT Supreme Student Council, providing the framework for the council's operations, responsibilities, and governance in accordance with the approved provisions.
