This statement is issued to clarify the circumstances surrounding the schoolโs non-suspension of ongoing activities at exactly 12:00 noon on November 26, 2025 when the Honorable Mayor Maila Rosario Ting-Que of Tuguegarao City announced the suspension of classes and school-related activities due to the threat of flooding brought about by continuous torrential rains.
At the time the suspension order took effect, Maila Rosario College was already in the middle of a scheduled cooking contest, an activity forming part of the schoolโs intramurals. The contest involved perishable ingredients, ongoing food preparation, and the active participation of multiple student groups, faculty, and support personnel.
Given this situation, the school acted in good faith when it allowed the contest to proceed until its proper conclusion. Immediately halting the activity at exactly 12 noon would have resulted in significant wastage of resources, disruption of food handling processes, and potential food safety concerns. The school carefully assessed the circumstances and determined that allowing the ongoing activity to finish safely and orderly was the most responsible course of action. After all, the said competition was conducted within a an area where the contestants, faculty, adjudicators, and organizers were safely sheltered and the same was not flood-prone. Additionally, the contest was not finished so belatedly that all participants and stakeholders did not have the time to go home promptly.
Nevertheless, the school acknowledges and fully respects the authority of the City Government of Tuguegarao and reiterates its commitment to comply with all directives issued for the safety and welfare of students, personnel, and the community.
Furthermore, it has come to our attention that a page named โJuan Ybanagโ published a post implying malicious allegations against the school, together with a screenshot of a message from an unidentified sender. We emphasize the following:
1.The source of the complaint is unidentified, and the senderโs identity is undetermined.
2. Because the sender is unknown and unverified, the message has no identifiable origin, it cannot be authenticated, making it unreliable and lacking any evidentiary value.
3. Ergo, the information presented does not constitute credible evidence, as it relies on an anonymous and unverifiable message.
4. Moreover, the unverified malicious claim was not corroborated by any similar and verified complaint coming from an identified individual who has personal knowledge of what transpired on the day of the cooking contest in relation to the subsequent announcement of class suspension by Mayor Maila Ting-Que.
5.Likewise, claims circulating online suggesting monetary penalties or misconduct are unfounded, false, and not based on any official report or verified account.
The school urges the public to exercise caution, verify information, and refrain from sharing misleading or unvalidated content that may cause unnecessary confusion.
We firmly note the circulation of misleading, malicious, or defamatory statements online regarding this matter. While we respect the publicโs right to express opinions, we strongly urge the community to exercise prudence and verify information before posting. Any libelous, slanderous, or malicious publications intended to malign the reputation of Maila Rosario College, its administrators, or staff or those that impute any crime, offense, or infraction on the part of the school without legitimate grounds and coursed through improper fora, will be addressed through appropriate legal action, as provided under applicable laws. Be forewarned!
Finally, we remain committed to transparency, student welfare, and responsible educational governance.
Thank you. God bless us all!
