The Senior Red Cross Youth (SRCY) Toboso National High School Council successfully conducted the Youth Volunteer Formation Course (YVFC) Training from September 6 to 8 at Toboso National High School, welcoming a new batch of youth volunteers through three days of learning, discipline, and service. Under the guidance of RCY Toboso NHS advisers Ma'am Cherry Saputalo, Ma'am Louise Jamon, and Sir Archie Sornido, the training introduced participants to the history, goals, and essence of the Red Cross Youth and the responsibility carried by every volunteer.
Facilitated by Johannes Franz Curativo, Ma. Elena Atienza, and Marjun Tagalog, the training covered first aid application, Basic Life Support (BLS), and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Beyond procedures, however, participants were reminded that every volunteer, regardless of position or role, has an important place in the organization. Calmness, leadership, communication, and teamwork were emphasized as essential qualities in responding effectively and working together in times of need.
As the training progressed, trust, cooperation, and teamwork were put to the test. Each activity became an opportunity for participants to improve, build discipline, and understand how attitude can shape the way they serve others. The formation also encouraged them to express their thoughts, strengthen their communication, and develop their public speaking skills, while learning that asking for help is not a weakness but a necessary part of working as a team.
The successful conduct of the YVFC Training was made possible through the support of the RCY Toboso NHS Working Committee, facilitators from the San Carlos Chapter, instructors from the San Carlos and Bacolod Chapters, and the dedicated advisers of Toboso NHS. More than a training course, the three-day formation became an avenue for young volunteers to develop the skills, discipline, and confidence needed to serve their community. Above all, it instilled the value that no role is greater than another, as every volunteer carries an equally important part in the shared commitment to serve and uphold the spirit of the Red Cross.
