Better people, better Earth. The Little Farm House began with 11 children on its first year and grew by 170 students eight years later.

I had "used" crayons, pre-loved toys, my own children's story and picture books, long playing records and a phonograph from a garage sale, a brave heart and a vision when I started the school in July 1, 1992. 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞

Class was interrupted by a tiny visitor—and it became the best lesson of the day. 🐦✨

A common kingfisher caught our students’ attention, turning curiosity into discovery and a simple moment into shared learning.

At HEDCen, we embrace these pauses—because real learning often happens beyond the lesson plan.

Distractions at HEDCen are nothing unusual. They can range from airplanes passing overhead during PE, invasive squirrels leaping from tree to tree, a snake crawling through the garden, or even a butterfly fluttering into the classroom.

Soon students from nearby classes were invited to take a peek at the beautiful bird resting by the tree. What began as a momentary distraction turned into a shared learning experience for many.

At our school, we welcome these interruptions, especially when they offer opportunities for authentic learning—experiences that no textbook or online resource can truly replicate.

We are often asked whether we are a traditional or progressive school. Our answer is simple: we are a blend of both, and perhaps even more. What matters most is that we remain intuitive—making adjustments whenever and wherever they are needed. We strive to maintain a balance of approaches that support each child’s growth and development, allowing them to experience life in its most genuine and unfiltered form.
